TFTaDMSSoCAR R. popinalis In coastal grassland and sometimes upland pastures. Records from Forth (South Queensferry 16 x 1965 & Aberlady 1 viii 1985) and Sutherland (as R. mundula, Invernaver Res. Savage Field Mycol. 9). Known neither from Outer nor Northern islands. R. mundula is considered a synonym. Under this name single record from Tay (St Andrews Golf Course, 2 x 1962). The only other record is from unlocalized Klotzsch material in K.

TFTaDMSSoCAR A. omphaliformis A collection agreeing in part with this species has been found in damp woodland margin at Moray (Tomich, 31 viii 1971). This is Entoloma percandidum of Noordeloos. Not in Stevenson.
TFTaDMSSoCAR A. rubellotincta Found in unimproved grassland; prefers rather acidic grassland compared with A. sericella.. Described by Largent & Watling (Mycologia 78: 132, 1986) from near Moray (Newtonmore, Inverness-shire). Also known Sutherland (Borgie, 16 ix 1973) and several localities in the Scottish islands, e.g. St Kilda, North Hill, Papa Westray, Fetlar and Nev Faray, and Bailemeanach, Mull.
TFTaDMSSoCAR A. sericella (Cream Pinkgill) Common throughout Scotland in short grass in grassland, margins of tracks in hill-pasture, along roadsides, in meadows and sometimes in woodland both in Mainland and the Islands. Collections from Clyde (L. Nethan), Dee (Cairnwell with Salix herbacea, 22 viii 1978 & 27 ix 1983; Forvie Sands, in fixed sand-dunes, 10 ix 1975), Ross (Applecross, Dennis, 1948), Forth (Lothians), Tweed (Dawyck), Sutherland (Tongue Dennis, 1955), Moray (road verge, Glen Affric, 5 ix 1957; Loch an Eilean, Glenmore Lodge, Coylum Bridge, Craigellachis, Culbin Sands and upper Tullochgruie, 19-25 viii 2005) and Tay (Ben Lawers, rough hill pasture. 3 ix 1983; Straloch with Salix repens, 16 viii 1978). Known from St Kilda, S.Uist, Barra, Mingulay, Coll, Skye, Canna, Mull, Colonsay and Islay. In Shetland known from Mainland, Yell, Unst, Fair Is. and Fetlar and Orkney under Betula pubescnes, Berriedale, N. Hoy, near Water Works, Stromness, with Salix repens, Papa Westray, on the Cuilags and in grass Ring, Westray. Recorded in Stevenson from Tweed, Tay, Dee, Moray and Clyde.
Var. laevipes is recorded from Mull.
Var. lutescens with a slightly yellowish or ochraceous tints to the pileus-disc is also widespread and often intermixed with the typical variety; known from Arctostaphylos uva ursi community Muckle Roe Shetland. Var. decurrrens As Eccilia carno-alba recorded from Moray (Badger Falls, Glen Affric, 18 ix 1958) and Kergord Shetland. Recorded from Clyde( Falls of Clyde). Collection from Tay (Glen Esk, Kincardineshire, 14 ix 1958) is probably the same as the present species. The material agrees with carneo-sericea interpreted by Orton and not of Noordeloos which lacks cystidia.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. albotomentosus A recently described species with a single record from dead leaves and woodland debris in damp place, Tay (Kindrogan 4 ix 1997) and Moray (Insh Marshes, on grass, moss and Juncus stems – different collections, 23 viii 2005).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. byssideus On soil in ditches or old mossy logs in deeply shaded woods. Recorded from Tay (Glen Lyon on Fraxinus 27 ix 1983) and Clyde ( Dunbartonshire, Tornish in Loch Lomond, in drainage ditch, 6 x 1973). Also record from Kirkwall, Orkney in plant pot, 13 ix 1990. but see C. depluens below. Not in Stevenson.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. depluens Possibly an introduction. Good collections from Forth (RBGdn., Edinb. in plant pots with conifers 28 vii 1981 thru’ ix 1988 at one time or another with Agathis palmerstonii, Amentotaxus formosiensis, A. argentianus, Callitris priesii, Cepahlotaxus wilsonianus, Cunninghamia sinensis, Podocarpus niger and Widdringtonia cupressoides. Also in pot with gesneriad 12 xii 1961). There is a collection in E labelled C. byssideus in a pot with Taiwainia glyptostroboides, which also probably belongs here. Not in Stevenson. TF?TaDMSSoCAR C. nigellus Known from a single recent collection in sand dunes amongst Torula ruraliformis Forth ( Aberlady, East Lothian, 4 iv 1963). See Watling Trans. Bot. Soc. Edinb. A collection from Tay noted in Stevenson as ‘in pasture, Perth’ but probably refers to something different.

Although recorded from Scotland extant material requires further examination as the name has been previously included Entoloma phaeocyathus Noordel., a species which presently in the UK is known only from Sandwich Bay, Kent.

TFTa?DM?SSoCAR E. saundersii In Stevenson Add. 5 recorded as E. saundersii from Drumoak, Aberdeenshire- Dee, collected by Rev. D.Paul where he emphaises the difference between it and E.majalis. The latter in Stevenson recorded as in meadows and open woods Den of Dun, Tay and adds Moray in Add. 8. The latter is probably a distinct entity!

Also known from Fetlar, Quendale Shetland, Mainland Orkney and N. Hoy, Mingulay, Arran, Skye, and Mull. Considered by Noordeloos simply to be a form of L. chalybea q.v.

Better known as Nolanea icterina a name which Orton (1991) keeps.

Nethan). Also records from Yell and several sites in Orkney including Sanday, Papa Westray, N. Hoy and Faray; also St Kilda, Mingulay, Arran, Skye, Rhum and Kintyre. In Stevenson as Entoloma and found in open woods and meadows Tay and Moray. This species has been the subject of poison enquires from Aberdeen Inf. 7 x 1975 and Sick Kids Hospital Edinburgh 6 viii 1980. Noordeloos considers var. nolaniformis synonymous with the type variety. Rtecords for Leptonia intermedia from Yell belong here and those collections agreeing morphologically from Orkney. A form with shortened stipe, characteristic spores and growing in coastal sandy pasture known from Ross (Applecross, Dennis, 1948).

TFTaDMSSoCAR ‘Entoloma’ henrici In unimproved grassland. Two records of this recently described species one from Sleat, Syke, P.Cottes, 4 ix 2001 and one from Argylle -Glen Nevis ix 1983.
TFTadMSSoCAR ‘Entoloma’ calthionis A collection probably representing this recently described species from the Netherlands has been found at The Gloup, Brough of Deerness, Orkney, 24 ix 1990,on peaty acidic soil in cliff pasture.
TFTaDMSSoCAR N. cetrata (Honey Pinkgill) Quite common in conifer woodland at all altitudes but also found in the absence of trees but associated with scrubby plants and Luzula sylvatica at high altitudes. Often appears early in year. Known from Forth, Tweed (Dawyck, 15 vi 2002), Sutherland (Tongue & Ben Loyal 701m. Dennis, 1955), Clyde (Blantyne, Falls of Clyde, Chaterherault etc.; Maybole, Aryshire, 20 viii 1927, E.J.Corner), Moray (Glenmore Lodge, under Pinus sylvestris, 20 viii 2005; Coylum Bridge, under Pinus sylvestris, 19 viii 2005; Rothiemurchus, 25 ix 1956; Aviemore, ix 1938), Ross (Applecross and Ben Shieldaig Dennis, 1948) and Tay (Loch Craiglush, Dunkeld, 3 x 1956; Kindrogan, 18 v 2003; Stormont Loch, Blairgowrie, 4 x 1956; Kinloch Rannoch, 17 x 1971. Known from Foula (amongst Luzula), Eday, Hoy (in plantation of Picea sitchensis & Pinus contorta) and several plantations on Mainland Orkney, Voxter Mainland Shetland, Arran and Mull (with Picea, 17 v 1968 include. Knockroy), Skye and Rhum. Also with Luzula Dee (Cairnwell 29 ix 1963) and Conochair St Kilda, with Salix herbacea and Rhacomitrium Moray (Meall Ghaordie, 18 ix 2003, J. Milne) and same host Mullach a’ Ghlas-t’huill D. McKean, Ross (Kishorn in Rhytidiadelphus, 610 m.) and Ben More, Mull with Luzula, 686m.
TFTaDMSSoCAR N. cuneata In conifer woodland or mixed wooded policies; often appearing quite early in the year. Recorded from Forth, Tay (Loch Craiglush, 3 x 1956; Rannoch, 29 iv 1961; Stormont Loch, 4 x 1956), Moray (Loch an Eilean, 19 viii 1960; Abernethy, 39 viii 1969) and Sutherland (Dunnett Head with Pinus contorta & P. maritima, 14 v 1985). Also known from Loch Ba, Mull and from Pinus mugo plantation Kergord and Voxter Shetland. Known from Rhum and Mull.
TFTaDMSSoCAR N. infula In grassland. Known from Clyde (Dalmellington, Aryshire, 20 viii 1927, E.J.H.Corner), Solway (Glen Trool, 25 v 1986) and Forth (Wixxxxxx, Fife, K. Cohen, 28 vii 2001). Also records from sand-dunes Quendale and Yell, Shetland, from St Kilda, Mull and Rhum.

TFTaDMSSoCAR O. leptonipes In grassy areas close to open woodland. Collections from Tweed (Megget, 1 x 1999), Moray (Plodda Falls, 20 viii 1955) and Dee (Morrone Wd., 7 ix 1972). This is what has been called ‘Entoloma’ incarnatofuscecens (Britz.) Noordeloos and Leptonia leptonipes of Orton (1960). A possible collection from Skye.

TFTaDMSSoCAR T. elodes Known from boggy heathland in Sphagnum or wet peaty soils up to 457m. Recorded from Sutherland (Tongue Dennis. 1955; amongst Arctuus,7 ix 1979, Ben Hope), Tay (Balrobbie Res., Killiecrankie), Dee (Cairnwell, 29 ix 1963 & 24 vii 1970) and Moray (Abernethy, 30 viii 1969; Loch an Eilean, Rothiemurchus, 26-31 viii 1955; Glen affric 21-25 viii 1955). Known from several sites on St Kilda, Skye (Sduardal, 12 viii 2000), Ulva, Rhum, S. Uist (Gleann Dail 8viii 2000), Graemsay and Mainland Orkney and Fair Isle and Trondra and several sites on Mainland Shetland. The epithet is often spelt ‘helodes’.
TFTaDMSSoCAR T. fuscomarginatus A moorland species found in either Sphagnum or on peaty soils Described by Orton (1960) from Forth, Moray (In Sphagnum , Tomich 18 ix 1958 - type). Known from Hascosay, Bressay, Unst, Foula and Mainland Shetland. A collection fromYell labelled Leptonia linkii in K is infact this species. The true Agaricus linkii Fr. is said to grow on wood.

TFTaDMSSoCAR T. jubatus (Sepia Pinkgill) In grass or moss in fields but more generally a woodland species. Known from Tay (Black Wd. of Rannoch, 23 ix 1976; Comrie Fm., Coshieville, 2 x 1961), Sutherland (Tongue Dennis, 1955), Moray (Loch an Eilean, Pinus sylvestris, 22 viii 2005; Loch Loy, 23 ix 1955; Tomich, 24 viii 1964), Ross (Dorlin Dennis, 1951; by Loch Kinlochewe, Ben Eighe, 30 iox 1955, D.M.Henderson) and Forth (on Oak lawn, R.B.Gdn., Edinb., 30 ix 1953). Material also from Arran, Colonsay, Skye (Ben Tote, x 1984), Papa Stour, Westray and several localities in Mainland Orkney and Yell Shetland and Papa Stour. As Agaricus (Entoloma) in Stevenson from pastures in Forth & Tay but possibly includes T. porphyrophaeum..
TFTaDMSSoCAR T. porphyrophaeus (Lilac Pinkgill) Widespread in grassland often in huge troops and or forming prominent fairy rings; know from sea turf to hill pasture at high elevations. Previously confused with and included in E. jubatum and not recorded in Stevenson probably because of that fact. Known from Dee (high hill pasture, Glen Gairn, 3 ix 1975), Ross (Applecross Dennis, 1948; Beinn Eighe Reserve, 29 9 1955, D.M.Henderson), Clyde (L. Nethan; Milngarvie by reservoir, 28 x 1975), Sutherland (amongst grass and Calluna, Strathnaver, 24 ix 1989), Moray (Aviemore, ix 1938, Wm. Young) and Forth (Bush estate, Penuicuik; Hopetoun Hse., S Queensferry, 27 ix 1980 & 14 x 1982; Swanston Hill top, Edinburgh, 12 x 196l & Dalmahoy Hill, Edinburgh, 29 ix 1973; Creaggmead Meadows Fife, 43 x 2001). Also known from St Kilda, Papa Westry, Westray, cliff tops at Yeasnaby and Stromness, Orkney and Lund Church, Unst, Yell, Hascosay, Mousa, St Ninians and Fetlar and Mainland Shetland (with Salix repens Millburn); also several sites on Mull including Geometra.
