TFTaDMSSoCAR C. collinitus Associated with Pinus sylvestris and not uncommon in remnant Caledonian forest. Known from Moray (Abernethy, 17 ix 1997 & Rothiemurchus 7 x 1967), Dee (Inverey Wd.) and Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 4 x 1967 & Camghouran, 7 x 1967; Inver, Hermitage, Dunkeld, ix 1988). Also known from Rhum. Noted in Reid & Austwick, 1963 from Scottish pinewoods. In Stevenson noted for all Watersheds except Argylle, Sutherland, Solway. Moray added in Add. 1 and Argylle and Solway in Add 8.

Recorded from Tay (Glenesk Edzell with Betula, 12 ix 1958; Camghouran, 17 x 1964 & 26 ix 1965; Loch Rannoch, 27 ix 1967 & 17 ix 1968; Balnaguard, 22 ix 1979 with Betula), Moray (Loch an Eilean, 4 ix 1957), Clyde (Chatelherault, Falls of Clyde & L. Nethan), Tweed (Innerleithen with Quercus, 23 viii 1987) and Forth (Saltoun, East Lothian, with Betula, 13 ix 1980). Appears in Stevenson Add 4 with description for Moray (Grantown, 1881, Rev. Keith).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. emolitus In mixed woodland. Recorded from Scotland in 1908 but without substantiating material according to Check List authors; see Reid & Austwick, 1963

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. galeobdolon Associated with members of the Fagaceae. Records as C. causticus, a species of conifer woodland, from Forth (Balerno, with Fagus, 11 x 1954; Hopetoun Hse, S. Queensferry, with Betula, 14 x 1982 & Pitencrieffe with Fagus & Ilex, 31 x 1976).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. illibatus Known from Moray (Badger Falls, 3 ix 1965). Also as C. subdelibutus from Tay (Dall Plantation and Dall Reservoir, both Rannoch 13 ix 1975 thru’ 29 ix 1978 type in E; described by Orton see Sydowia 36 1983).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. integerrimus Associated with Pinus & Betula; several records in K. Known from Moray (Abernethy, 3 ix 1995). Little doubt that several records have been placed under C. stillatitius s. auct and therforer appar under C. pseudosalor , for which thew current name is C. mucifluiodes.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. livido-ochraceus (Wrinkled Webcap) Associated with Fagus. Known from Moray (Aviemore, 13 ix 1927, E.J.H. Corner) and as C. elatior from Jura and Clyde (Chatelherault, Falls of Clyde & L. Nethan), Forth (Selmuir in Picea/Pinus plantation, 7 x 1967; Gifford with Fagus, 16 viii 1954) and Moray (Aviemore ix 1938, Wm. Young). Noted in Reid & Austwick (1963) but wirthourt localities. In Stevenson single record from Tay (Moncrieffe) as C. elatior and Solway added in Add 8.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. muicifluoides (Purple Stocking Web). In mixed woodland especially associated there with Fagus. Recorded from Tay (Gannochy, 14 viii 1964) and from Mull and appears in Stevenson Add 4 recorded from Moray (Grantown, 1881, Rev. Keith). But many records appear as the common and widespread C. pseudosalor, generally with Fagus. Known from Ross (Beinn Eighe Reserve, 29 ix 1955), Tay (Faskally, 6 viii 1957), Clyde (Chatelherault, L. Nethan & Cleghorn Glen), Moray (Plodda Falls, 3 viii 1957; Loch an Eilean originally as C. lividoviolaceus, 26 viii 1955) and Forth (Selmuir 3 x 1967; Balerno, 13 x 1971). Also from Arran, St. Kilda, Lewis, Skye, Rhum, Ulva, Mull & Colonsay, from Muckle Roe, Shetland with Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, with Salix repens in Sutherland (Bettyhill, 21 ix 1984), Foula and Dee (Newburgh Forvie, 26 ix 1967) and from St Kilda. With S. herbacea Hoy, Orkney and Foula Shetland. Known from Ulva. Redets. - As C. largus Solway (Knapdale, 12 viii 1975).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. mucifluus (Slimy Webcap) Associated with Pinus sylvestris. Records from Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Forth, Dee (Inverey, 24 ix 1979 & 7 ix 1982), Ross (Beinn Eighe, 244m., 12 ix 1963) and Tay (Camghouran, 27 ix 1967). Known from Rhum and Mull (incl record from Cross Pt. under Quercus 25 x 1970 – which needs reassessment). See Orton TBMS 43: 204, 1960. In Stevenson added in Add. 1 from Moray (Granton, Rev. Keith) with description. Apparently C. pinicola described by Orton from Scotland proves to be the same and for which records are known from Moray (Loch an Eilean, 26 viii 1955; Rothiemurchus, 19 vii 1955; Lower Tullochgruie Aviemore, 8 ix 1958; Plodda Falls, 29 viii 1957 & 2 ix 1967; Pollanbuidhe, Glen Affric, 21 viii 1955; isotype in E type & 3 ix 1957),
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. mucosus (Orange Webcap) Associated with Pinus sylvestris and characteristic of Highland pinewoods. Known from Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 8 x 1967; Camghouran, 22 x 1967), Dee (Inverey 24 ix 1979 & 7 ix 1981) and Moray (Plodda Falls, 2 ix i957; Loch an Eilean, 9 ix 1957; Aviemore, ix 1938, Wm. TFTaDMSSOCAR C. ochroleucus Noted in Reid & Austwick (1963) but without any localities. Recorded in Stevenson for Tweed and Tay but under sg. Dermocybe so might be a different taxon.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. pluivius Said to be associated with conifers. Single recent record from Tay (Kinloch Rannoch, 17 x 1971). A single record with description in Stevenson for Tay (Glamis,).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. pumilus Collection close to this taxon found at Salen, Mull, 26 viii 1973. Possibly the same as C. livido-ochraceus.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. trivialis (Girdled Webcap) Associated with arborescent willows. Known from Forth (Doune Ponds, 14 x 1990), Moray (Lower Tullochgruie, Aviemore, 28 ix 1969; Tomich, 2 ix 1971), Dee (Morrone Wd., Braemar, with Populus, 7 ix 1982), Tay (Balnaguard, 8 ix 1978; Kindrogan by pond ix 2008), Argylle (Ardnamurchan, Dennis 1955), Ross (Beinn Eighe Reserve, with Betula, 30 ix 1955), Dee (Forvie) from Hobbister Orkney with Salix aurita. Fair Isle, Foula and Orkney and Dee (Forvie, 10 ix 1975) with S. repens. As C. collintus var. trivialis recorded from Argylle (Salen, Dennis, 1951). TFTaDMSSoCAR C. vibratilis In conifer and mixed woodland. Known from Moray (Loch an Eilean, 19 viii 1960; Nethy Bridge, 23 viii 1970 & Abernethy 4 ix 1971 & 15 ix 1992). Also record from Mull.

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. caperatus (The Gypsy) Widespread often hidden in Vaccinium in suitable habitats in remnants of Caledonian pine forest, although occasional elsewhere. Known from Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 9 ix 1977); Dee (Invery Wd., nr. Braemar, 7 ix 1970 & 22 viii 1978; Linn of Dee, 24-29 viii 1968 & 21 viii 1972) and Moray (Plodda, 29 viii 1957 and Pollanbuihde, 3 ix 1957 both Glen Affric), Ross (Beinn Eighe, under Calluna in birchwood, 29 ix 1955) and Forth (Saltoun Big Wd., Pencaitland, 1 x 1977.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. aleuriosmus As C. rapaceus. Single collection from Moray (Darnaway Forest 1963 in K) but known from Strathfarrer 26 ix 1985. Also possible collections agreeing in part from Moray (Lower Tullochgruie, Aviemore 8 ix 1960; Loch an Eilean, 21 ix 1961). Included here by the Check List authors would be C. caroviolaceus described by Orton from England; no material agreeing with Orton’s protologue has not been found in Scotland.
TFTaDMSSoCAR ?C. argutus Reported from Scotland by Reid & Austwick (1963) but not considered to be British by Check List authors and confused with C. fraudulosus of the 1960 Dennis, Orton & Hora Check List. Material needs to be reassessed.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. balteatocumatilis Not common; grows associated with Fagus. Known from Tay (Standing Stones nr., Enochdhu, 21 ix 1979) and Moray (Lochan Mhor, Aviemore, 14 ix 1957 type in E; see TBMS 43 207, 1960). Also as C. violaceotinctus also described by Orton from Scotland – Moray (Rothiemurchus, 5 ix 1958 - type in E; Trans. Brit. Mycol. Soc. 43: 213, 1960. Single record of C. crassus from Forth (Balerno, under Fagus, 10 x 1954),which probably refers to C. balteatocumatiulis q.v. As C. subbalteatus known from Tweed (Dawyck, 6 x 2000). This is C.balteatus and C. cumatilis of some authors but not the original authoprity; Reid & Austwick, 1963.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. caerulescens (Mealy Bigfoot Webcap) Said to occur only in southern British Isles in old beech woodland. Single record from Tay (Glen Lyon, 1 ix 1982) requires re-examination and in Stevenson noted for Ross, Forth, Tay & Moray.

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. claricolor In birch/pine mixed woodland. In Stevenson recorded with description only from Tay (Glamis, Moncrieffe, Killin & Kippendavie). In Add 1 added for Clyde (Glasgow Show – Keir, 1880). Said to include C. subclaricolor, which is known from Moray (Badger Falls, Tomich, 6 ix 1957). Records of C. turmails in Reid & Austwick, 1963 probably belong here.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. coalescens Korcher & Seibt Two collections of C. largus both from Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 29 ix 1971 & Struan Wd., 6 ix 1982) are believed to be referrable here by Brandrud, a species not previously recognized in Britain.

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. decoloratus Generally synonimized with C. tabularis q.v. but a larger more sturdy agaric. Known from Clyde (Cleghorn Glen), Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 15 ix 11971; Loch Rannoch, 28 ix 1971; Kinloch Rannoch, 28 ix 1971; Black Wd., Rannoch, 17 ix 1968) and Moray (Dell Wd., Rothiemurchus, 15 ix 1971; Nethy Bridge, 8 ix 1971; Loch an Eilean, 26 ix 1979). Also known from Gruline, Mull, 7 ix 1968.. Introduced in Stevenson with description from specimens brought to the Edinburgh Fungus Show, 1878. See Orton in Sydowia 36, 224, 1983. Soc. 43: 209, 1960 & 4 ix 1960; Abernethy, 23 viii 1968 thru’ 4 ix 1990, Loch an Eilean, 12 ix 1957 and Nethy Bridge 12 ix 1957). A further collection although questioned as this species and agreeing with C. crassus s. Bres. collected also in Moray (Plodda Falls, 14 ix 1956).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. glaucopus In mixed deciduous woodland. Recent record from Forth but no voucher material. Otherwise only known from two Klotzsch collections in E from Douglestoun, xi 1830 but also probably refers to collections labelled C. herpeticus from Mull. Records in Stevenson range from Forth to Ross, missing only Solway, Sutherland and Tweed.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. infractus (Bitter Webcap) In pine/birch woodland. Known from Tay (Glen Tilt, 2 x 1994; Struan Wd., 6 ix 1982), Dee (Linn of Dee, 18 viii 1964) and Moray (Lower Tullochgruie Aviemore, 9 ix 1958). Possibly also collection labelled C. olivascens ? by E.J.H.Corner from Moray (Aviemore 13 ix 1927) belongs here.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. largus Widespread with Fagus although no where common, except in some particular seasons, e.g. 1998. Known from Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 6 x 1973; Camghouran, 21 ix 1980; Glen Lyon, TEBrandrud 175-83), Forth, Tweed (Dawyck under Fagus edge of Betula stand, 2 x 1997), Skye and Mull. A collection from Moray (Tomich, 11 ix 1969) has wider pileal hyphae than typical C. largus. Record of C. muricinus in Reid & Austwick (1963) possibly based on Cooke’s plate may in fact belong here or may refer to C. variicolor q.v.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. microspermus Specimens only from Moray (Plodda Falls, Tomich, 14 ix 1956) and Mull but Check List authors say ‘ known from scattered sites in Scotland’.

Under the latter name known from type locality in Moray (Badger Falls, Tomich 21 ix 1956 - type in E; see TBMS 43: 212, 1960; same locality 17 ix 1956 & 6 ix 1957) and from Mull. Also as C. validus from Moray (Badger Falls, 13 ix 1956) and Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 19 ix 1970). This is the record of C. validus in Reid & Austwick, 1963 In Stevenson Add. 4 recorded from Tay (Glamis, 1881) with description.
TFTaDMSSoCAR ?C. saporatus Apparently British collections of C. turbinatus probably belong here. Known under this latter name for Mull and in Stevenson Add. 1. for Tay (Glamis, 1881). If Cooke’s interpretaion is taken for the Stevenson collection then it should be referred to C. elegantior.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. scaurus (Green Webcap) In damp pine woods. Known from Tay (Camghouran, 29 ix 1960; Black Wd., Rannoch 24 ix 1960 thru’ 19 ix 1971; Dall, Rannoch, 22 ix 1970), Moray (Culbin Forest, 20 ix 1991; Pollanbuidhe, 15 ix 1956; Loch an Eilean, 21 & 25 ix 1961) and Ross (Beinn Eighe Res. 23 ix 1998). Also recorded from Mull and coll from ‘nr. Glasgow Sept. 1830’ in Klotzsch herb. in E. In Stevenson the latter record is the only one noted.
Var. herpecticus is possibly also found in Scotland.

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. triumphans (Birch Webcap) Associated with Betula. Known from Moray (Tomich, 1 ix 1971 & 6-7 ix 1972; Badger Falls, 16 ix 1969), Solway (Moniave, Dumfries, 22 ix 1953) and Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 25 ix 1960 thru’ 22 ix 1974). Widespread with Betula as records for C. crocolitus, which is said to differ in paler colours and lack of innate fibrils on the pileus. Specimens from Tweed (Dawyck BGdn., 18 ix 2000), Forth, Clyde (Milngarvie, viii 1992; Loch Nethan), Tay (Kindrogan, 20 x 1968; Struan Wd., 6 & 27 ix 1982), Ross (Loch Torridon, Dennis, 1948; Beinn Eighe Res., 20 ix 1956; Loch Torridon Dennis, 1955) and Moray (Tomich, 28 viii 1957); also Mull. Collections from Tay (Faskally, Pitlochry, 8 ix 1981) and from Mull as C. subtriumphans also belong here. In Stevenson only recorded from Tay (Moncrieffe). Orton had some misgivings about the use of C. crocolitus for some collections and introduced the provisional epithet ‘zebrinus’ for these collections from Moray and Tay (Loch Craiglush, 3 x 1956).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. turmalis Known from Moray (Abernethy, 11 ix 1997; Tomich, 1 ix 1982; Lochan Mhor, 14 ix 1957) and Tay (Struan Wd., 6 ix 1982). Check List authors indicate that no material is available and prob. represents C. claricolor. In Stevenson recorded with description from Tay (Glamis) and in Add. 8 Moray.

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. variicolor As C. crassus from Tay (Loch Rannoch, 27 ix 1967 & 17 ix 1968) and as C. nemorensis Moray (Loch an Eilean, 7 vii 1958). Also recorded from Skye. Probably it is this species to which Reid & Austwick (1963) refer to as C. crassus.

Records from Clyde (Rosshdu, 8 ix 1980), Moray (Abernethy, 29 ix 1974 & 13 viii 1984; Altyre x 2008), Argylle (Fearnish, Oban, under Picea, 23 ix 1979), Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 3 x 1967) and Sutherland (Lairg 5 ix 1980). The last collection involved in poisoning case of campers and subsequent kidney transplants. See Nature with Drs. McDonald & Short and Mycol. Mycopathol.). Young). Also known from Orkney, Skye, Mull & Rhum, Lyness, Orkney. In Stevenson recorded from all Watersheds except Solway, Sutherland and Moray, the first added in Add. 8.

TFTaDMSSoCAR ?C. decoloratus See under C. tabularis below of which it is considered a synonym by some and with which there has been some confusion. Generally synonimized with C. tabularis q.v. but a larger more sturdy agaric. Known from Clyde (Cleghorn Glen), Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 15 ix 11971; Loch Rannoch, 28 ix 1971; Kinloch Rannoch, 28 ix 1971; Black Wd., Rannoch, 17 ix 1968) and Moray (Dell Wd., Rothiemurchus, 15 ix 1971; Nethy Bridge, 8 ix 1971; Loch an Eilean, 26 ix 1979). Also known from Gruline, Mull, 7 ix 1968. Introduced in Stevenson with description from specimens brought to the Edinburgh Fungus Show, 1878. See Orton in Sydowia 36, 224, 1983.

Also known from St Kilda, Rhum, Mull and Colonsay and with Salix herbacea Fair Isle, Dee (Cairnwell, 29 ix 1963), Arran, St Kilda, Foula, Orkney with S. repens and Betula and Papa Westray; also Hobbister Orkney with S. aurita. In Stevenson only listed for Dee and Moray but in Add. 8 Tay added. A possible collection with S. herbacea Fair Isle. Said to be same as C. decoloratus q.v. listed under Phlegmacium for which there are several records from Moray and Tay etc.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. traganus (Gassy Webcap) In mixeed birch/pine woodland probably confined to remnants of Caledonian forest. Only known in recent times from Moray (Abernethy, 24 viii 1960; Loch an Eilean, 8 ix 1957 & 24 viii 1970; Rothiemurchus, 26 viii 1960; Tomich, 2 ix 1957; Nethy Bridge, vii 1997; also Aviemore, 16 ix 1927 C. Rea). In Stevenson recorded with description for Moray (Forres etc. apparently other records from the area) and Solway (New Galloway, J. McAndrew). Includes var. finitmus recorded from Moray (Forres).

Also records from Skye and Mull, several sites on Orkney, Graemsay and Shetland including Papa Westray. In heathy grassland several sites on Mainland Shetland, Fair Islee and Fetlar in absence of willow apparently. As C. croceus Clyde (Falls of Clyde) and Moray (Abernethy, 9 ix 1990), Dee (Cairnwell, with Salix herbacea, 8 ix 1984) and Unst and as C. cinnamomeobadius from Dee (Cairnwell, 23 viii 1968).

Also known from Rhum under Picea and in Stevenson recorded for Tweed, Tay, Clyde and Ross with Moray added in Add. 1.
As presently accepted in Britain this species is a complex. Henry (1968) in his monographic treatment of the C. acutus group recognized several species within a complex to which he gave epithets but which the Check List authors prefer to maintain in C. acutus. These include C. acutostriatus known from Orkney, Fetlar & St Kilda all with S. repens; with Arctostaphylos uva-ursi Muckle Roe and S. repens Yell. With S. herbacea Ronas Hill, Mainland Shetland and Foula. As C. eustriatulus recorded from St Kilda, Burravoe and Sandness Hill with S. herbacea, both Shetland and at the Sneug, Foula. Recorded under C. maxistriatulus from Foula with Salix repens, poss. Hoy, Orkney and Tom a’ Chorinich, Glen Affric with S. herbacea. As C. pseudostratulus with S. repens Yell. Also C. striatuloides with S. repens Orkney, with Arctostaphylos uva ursi Muckle Roe, with S. repens Foula, Bressay, Housay, Out Skerries all Shetland & Fair Isle and St Kilda, all with S. repens. TFTaDMSSoCAR C. albovariegatus Known from pinewoodland. Known from Moray (Loch an Eilean, legit J. Butler, 21 7 1991;Loch Morlich vi 1986 and Aviemore environs about same time ex E. Farquharson; no material available). Surely both C. albomarginatus Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 21 v 2003 E. Ridge & C. albofilamentosus collected the day before at the same site refer here). This is not the same as C. albovelatus nom. prov. Orton collected in England.

C. xenophaeus n.p. Known only from single Scottish locality in Tay (Kinloch Rannoch, 12 x 11975) but several English collections in E.
TFTaDMSSoCAR L. bulbiger (White Webcap) Rather rare; found under Betula and Juniperus communis in Caledonian pinewood. Only known from the Spey valley – Moray (Craigellachie, Aviemore, 19 ix 1995 and Loch an Eilean, same site 24 ix 1956, 8 ix 1957 & 11 ix 1963). Site visited on several occasions since without success. Not in Stevenson and not recorded from Islands. Appears in Add. 9 with description for Moray (Rothiemurchus Rev. Keith).
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. arduennensis Recorded as P. jennyae from conifer stands in Moray (Plodda Falls, Glen Affric, 29 & 30 viii 1957) and Tay (Camghouran, 4 x 1964) and as P. cidaris from Tay (Blackcraig, 3 viii 1985) and Moray (Aviemore det. C.Rea, 13 ix 1927). Not in Stevenson and not recorded from Western and Northern Islands. Mentioned for Scotland as P. jennyae by Reid & Austwick (1963) but without records.

TFTaDMSSoCAR P. lugubris (Russet Rootshank) Single records from Moray (Darnaway under Fagus but conifers near by, 6 ix 1988) and Tay (Falskally ix 2008). Not in Stevenson and not recorded from Western and Northern Islands. Mentioned for Scotland in Reid and Austwick (1963) but with no records.
