TFTaDMSSoCAR L. lacrymabunda (Weeping Widow) Common and widespread in gardens, parks, margins of woods etc. Probably better known as L. velutina. Known for Sutherland (Tongue, Dennis, 1955), Clyde (Chatelherault, Falls of Clyde & L.Nethan), Solway (Logan BGdn., 21 viii 1984; Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Tay (Glamis; St Andrews, 25 viii 1965), Forth (Barnton, 8 x 1961; Eildon Terrace, 14 x 1991, Bell Place, 15 viii 1978, Laverock Bank Cres., 21 ix 1993 all Edinb.; Penicuik, 2 x 1954; Dudingston Loch, 3 viii 2001; RBGdn., Edinb., rose lawn, 13 ix 1977 and pond lawn, 21 viii 1963, and 19 vii 1960 thru’ 9 v 1974 in various outdoor sites and in Hse. 3 by Geranium, 20 v 1987; Dalkeith Co. Pk., 26 viii 1990; Winchburgh, West Lothian, 1 x 1967; Rifle Butts, viii 1986; Doune Ponds, 11 vi 1989; Dunfermline, 1 x 1983), Moray (Glenmore Lodge, 20 viii 2005), and Ross (Loch Eriboll, rubble in lst. quarry, 19 ix1972). Also known from Arran, Shetland, Orkney incl. Eday, Islay and Skye. Material from a Dalkeith enquiry via Environ. Health Dept. and possible poisoning case at ‘Sick Kids’ hospital, Edinburgh 11 x 1990; also a case of poisoning of young adult in Dundee who experienced lowering of the heart rate before recovering. Re-examination of collections is required to distinguish these records from L. glareosa q.v. Klotzsch material in E incl. two collections labelled Ag. tabularis (Check writing) ’Bot. Garden July-Oct. 1830’ and two others labelled Ag. lacrymabundus from Bot. Gdn. Aug. 1830’ belong here unlike the collection from Pinnordy dated Aug. 1830 and labelled ‘Ag. lacrymabundus var. fusipes ?’refer to Hypholoma radicosum. Also Ag.(Psilocybe) areolata Klotszch from Glasgow Bot. Gdn., 1830 belongs here, as do records as Ag. (Hypholoma) lacrymabunda and H. velutina in Stevenson for all but Argylle, Ross, Sutherland, Solway and Forth.
TFTaDMSSoCAR L. pyrotricha In grass at margin of tracks. Known from Tay (Glamis, 19 ix 1981), Clyde (Chatelherault; Milngarvie, 8 ix 1980), Forth (Ormiston Hall, x 2009; Alva Co. Park, Stirling, 8 x 1989) and Tweed (Mellerstain). Enquiry from Tay (Angus 14 ix 1997) brought from hospital there. Also known from Orkney. Added in Stevenson’s Add. 9 for Glamis, Tay with description.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. atomatoides As P. rannochi, a species described from Tay by Kits van Waveren – type in L. Additional collection from Moray (Abernethy, 5 ix 1985). Also record from Sutherland (Borgie Forest Dennis, 1955) belongs here.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. cernua On deciduous stumps and trunks. Known from Tay (Black Wd., 5 x 1975 & Camghouran, 17 x 1964, both Rannoch) and Tweed (Floors Castle, 28 ix 1999). In Stevenson as Psilocybe from Tay, Dee, Moray & Clyde.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. maculata As Ag. (Stropharia) scobinaceus from Glamis and Dun – both Tay, with description in Stevenson.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. spadicea (Chestnut Brittlestem) On old trunks and stumps. Known from Tweed (Dawyck, under Abies numidica and also on Rhododendron root, 16 x 2001), Solway (Glen Cairn base of Aesculus, 1 x 2000), Forth (RBGdn., Edinb., on Populus, 14 xi 1995), Tay (Glen Lyon, 5 x 1980; Dall, Rannoch, 29 ix 1961) and Moray (Aviemore, 12 ix 1927). Possible record from Chatelherault – Clyde. Records from Orkney, Skye and Mull. Probably a collection labelled P. subcernua from Forth (Menstrie Glen, Tillicoutry, 11 x 1987) belongs here. In Stevenson recorded under Psilocybe from Tay, Clyde and Ross; var. hygrophilus from Glamis in the same text with short description is a nomen dubium. Records as P. sarcocephala known from Forth (Inverleith Row, Canonmills, growing thru’ wall, 5 x 1961& 5 xi 1963; Bridge of Allan, 10 x 1981; Stirling, base of Ulmus, 3 x 1979), Clyde (Falls of Clyde base of Betula) and Tay (Standing stones, nr. Kirkmichael, 2 ix 1965; Loch Craiglush, Dunkeld, 14 ix 1957). Also record in clusters at base of Fagus from Mull.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. sylvestris Known from Tay (Blackcraig, Bridge of Cally, 17 viii 1973). It could be that the intermediate noted in Stevenson pg. 71,which can only be imagined was from Glamis – Tay would be referred here also.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. ammophilae (Dune Brittlestem) Common and widspread in sand-dunes associated with dune grasses. Known from Sutherland (Strathnaver, 17 ix 1972 & 20 ix 1964; Druim Chubhu Savage Field Mycol. 9 ), Moray (Culbin Sands, 24 viii 2005), Dee (St Cyrus, 7 vii 1970; Forvie, 10 ix 1975), Tay (Tentsmuir, 10 x 1965 & 10 x 1975; Barry Links, 31 viii 1980), Forth (Aberlady, 29 ix 1967; Gullane, viii 1934, legit W.Evans). Also known from Colonsay, Orkney, Quendale and West Burra Shetland. In Stevenson noted under Psilocybe from Tay (St Andrews) by Rev. M. L. Anderson.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. atrolaminata Record from Ross (Applecross, Dennis, 1948). Single collection (as f. substerilis) from Binscarth, Orkney. Said to be the same as P. corrugis. Also as P. polycystis amongst leaves edge of woodland and known from Clyde (Chatelherault), Forth (Cammo Pk., Edinb., 26 ix 1981) and Stromness, Orkney.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. bifrons Single record from Glamis – Tay. Much confusion over this species and the interpretation by Kits van Waveren does not apply to any UK collection
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. coprophila On horse dung. Described from Forth (Blackford Glen, Edinb., 1 xi 1966 – type in E & 20 xii 1966) and known from Moray (Insh Marshes, 23 viii 2005). Also records from Skye, Rhum, Mull and Shetland. See Watling, Notes Roy. Bot. Gdn., Edinb. and P. fimetaria below, which is thought to be the same as P. saponacea, although collections do not mate - fide R.Kemp.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. corrugis (Red Edge Brittlestem) Not uncommon along tracks in woodland often attached to small pieces of woody debris or amongst leaves. Known from Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Sutherland (Tongue, Dennis, 1955), Clyde (Chatelherault, Falls of Clyde, L.Nethan), Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, in Pinus litter, 21 v 2003; Forth (Prestonhall, Pathhead, 29 ix 2001; Thruipmuir, Balerno, 4 x 1952; Ormiston, xi 1910). Also known from Arran, Islay, Mull and Orkney. F. substerilis, known from Forth (Ravelston Wd., 2 x 2003 and Cammo Pk., 26 ix 1981 both Edinb.), Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Clyde (Chatelherault) and Binscarth, Orkney. Includes records of P. gracilis var. corrugis. All records under the more familiar name P. gracilis. In Stevenson recorded for Moray and Tay and as P. gracilis from same Watersheds and in Add. 4 from Tweed. It may be that Ag. (Psilocybe) agrarius from Tay (Kinnoul Hill, Perth) in Stevenson may belong here as possible the substerile form noted above.

Killin, 24 ix 11979; Loch of the Lowes, Blairgowrie, 24 ix 1979; Standing Stones nr. Kirkmichael, 23 viii 1970) and Forth (Glen Corse, Penicuik, 20 ix 1967). Also known from Mull and Shetland. All records under the synonym P. coprobia.

TFTaDMSSoCAR P. microrhiza (Rootlet Brittlestem) In grassy spots in woods and in leaves along woodland tracks. Known from Tay (Tentsmuir, 18 x 2003; Kindrogan, 19 viii 1967), Clyde (Blantyre & Chatelherault) and Forth (Hopetoun Hse, S. Queensferry, 12 ix 1993). Recorded also from Skye and Orkney.

Records from Tweed (Dawyck, 14 xii 2000 & 6 xii 2003), Forth (Fife, 20 ix 2000; RBGdn., Edinb., Sorbus lawn, 18 viii 1957, under Ilex, 5 vii 1963, peat walls, 4 vi 1954 & Centre Hse., 14 viii 1979; Balerno, 4 x 1953 & 8 x 1964; Aberlady, 5 x 1963), Ross (Applecross, Dennis, 1948), Clyde (Chatelherault & L. Nethan), Tay (Kindrogan, 18 v 2003; Standing Stones, nr. Kirkmichael, 22 viii 1972; Straloch, 19 viii 1972). Also records from Arran, Skye, Rhum, Colonsay, Islay, Mull and Orkney. Eaten by 2 small children in Borders (14 v 1990) with apparently no ill-effects. Single collection by Klotzsch in E ‘ In horto botanico. Glasgow Sept. 1930’. Several synonyms are known for this fungus, incl. P. microlepidota, descibed from Norfolk (type in E) and single Scottish record from RBGdn., Edinb., 5 vii 1960. In Stevenson recorded under two epithets ‘candolleana’ and ‘appendiculata’ from Cluny Hill, Forres - Moray for the first and Tweed, Forth, Tay, Moray and Clyde under the last. Ag. (Hypholoma) lanaripes from Davey, Moray collected by Rev. J. Keith in Stevenson may belong here.

Records from Eigg and Mull, and questionable record from Orkney. In Stevenson recorded only from Tay (Glamis).
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. panaeoloides In grassland and grassy edges to roads. Known from Forth (Yellow Craig, Dirleton, 7 v 2000); also from Sanday, nr. Binscarth and Deerness, Orkney, S. Uist, Benbecula, 7 viii 2000, and Noss, Shetland. A collection as P. ovatispora ? from Melsetter, Shetland.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. spadiceogrisea (Spring Brittlestem) In grass under deciduous trees amongst leaves and litter; quite a common and widespread spring agaric. Known from Forth (Strenton, East Lothian, 23 iv 1961), Tay (Birks of Aberfeldy, 23 v 2003; Black Wd., Rannoch, 21 v 2003; Blair Atholl, 20 v 2003; Kindrogan, 18 v 2003; Blairgowrie,,under Fagus, 19 iv 1957; Black Wd., Rannoch, 21 v 2003), Clyde (Chatelherault),Ross (Applecross, Dennis, 1948) and Moray (Badger falls, Glen Affric, 21 v 1957). Also record from Arran, Papa Westray, Orkney and Mull. In Stevenson recorded from Tweed, Tay and Moray. As P. vernalis a spring agaric at margins of woods and thickets and known from Tay (Kindrogan, on oil, 20 v 2003) and Forth (Carberry Tower, 2 iv 2000) and Skye. Questionable record from Tyinghamme, East Lothian, 15 v 1960.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. subnuda Records only from Mingulay and Iona & Calgary both Mull and Forth (Lothians).
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. laevissima On saw-dust pile. Known from Tweed (Dawyck, 30 viii 2000). This is the P. pilulaeformis of the 1960 Check List. Several localities in the Clyde (Upper Clyde Valley incl. Cleghorn Glen, Falls of Clyde, Jock’s Gill and L. Nethan as P. piluliformis). Probable records as this name from Tay (Kinnoul Hill, 7 ix 1986; Rannoch, 9 xi 1967). As P. pilulaeformis from Mull.. Possibly also as Bolbitius hydrophilus recorded in Stevenson’s Add. 4 from Tweed. This and the next species have both been recorded as P. hydrophila.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. pilulaeformis (Common Stump Brittlestem) On stumps and saw-dust of frondose trees; widespread. Known from Tay (Kindrogan, 19 viii 1972), Tweed (Dawyck, on fallen Quercus, 7 x 1994 thru’ 28 x 2001) and Forth (RBGdn., Edinb., on Quercus lawn, 18 vii 1953; Balerno, under Fagus amongst wood-chips, 18 x 1964). Also known from Skye, Rhum and Mull. Records from Forth (Gifford, 26 ix 1954 and about pine stump, Bolton Muir Wd., 28 x 1953 require re-examination).
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. clivensis Amongst grass in calcareous grasslands. Recorded from Tay (Schiehallion, 2 vii 2000), Stronsay and S. Walls, Orkney, from St Ninians, Shetland, 1 ix 1986 and Arran. Considered by Kits van Waveren to be the same as P. frustulenta.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. fibrillosa Recorded for Clyde (Chatelherault), Moray (Loch Loy, Nairn, 25 ix 1955) and Ross (Beinn Eighe, 29 ix 1955). Also a collection approaching this taxon from Moray (Abernethy, 30 viii 1969). As P. artemisae (Petticoat Brittlestem) on woody debris, amongst leaves and woodland trash known from Tweed (Dawyck, 17 x 1997), Tay (Kindrogan, on rotten wood, 20 v 2003) and Forth (Heggies Moor, Fife, 17 viii 2002; Devilla Wd., Culross, 1 vi 2003). As the synonym P. squamosa Tay (Kindrogan, 18 v 2003; Loch Rannoch, 29 viii 1954), Moray (Ben Alder, amongst Betula nana, 501m., 7 viii 1981; Loch an Eilean, 30 viii 1955), Ross (Loch Carron, 366m., 24 x 1962) and Sutherland (Borgie Forest, under conifers, 23 ix 1984). Also known from St Kilda and Skye as P. artemisiae and Eday and Binscarth, Orkney as P. squamosa. As P. cortinariodes described from Norfolk but recorded as P. fibrillosa, from Orkney, Shetland,

TFTaDMSSoCAR P. senex As P. ploddensis recently described by Kits van Waveren from Moray (Plodda Falls, Glen Affric,10 ix 1968 - type in L; see Persoonia). Also as P. friesii with single record from Tweed (Dawyck, amongst moss, 14 ix 2001).
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. umbrina Known only from Moray (Tomich, 5 ix 1968 – type in L).
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. caput-medusae (Medusa Brittlestem) On Picea stumps; possibly locally frequent. Found in Tay (Strraloch, 30 viii 1985; Blackcraig nr. Bridge of Cally, 17 viii 1973; nr. Davan, 12 ix 1970; Lodge at Kindrogan, 23 viii 1966), Forth (Stirling Univ., 12 ix 1990) and Moray (Abernethy, 7 ix 1993). Recorded under P. jerdonii from Moray (Badger Falls, Glen Affric, 6 ix 1957), Tay (Blackcraig nr. Biridge of Cally, 20 viii 1978) and Forth (Vane Farm nr. Kelty, 1 x 1963), a fungus which Orton (TBMS 43 1960) considers separate in its white pileus-scales. Examination of the type collection made by A. Jerdon from Tweed (Mossburn) and described by Berkeley and Broome shows the spores to be the same as those of P. caput-medusae fide van Waveren. In Stevenson recorded as Ag. (Stropharia) caput-medusae from Tay (Warren Wd., Glamis), with description. This fungus under P. jerdonii appears for Moray (Rothiemurchus) in Stevenson.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. cotonea (Yellowfoot Brittlestem) At base of trunks and stumps of deciduous trees, esp. Quercus and Fagus. Known from Tay (Standing Stones,nr. Kirkmichael, 30 viii 1985; Dall, Rannoch, 15 x 1980), Dee (Dinnett, base of Quercus, 26 viii 1962), Forth (Torphichan Hills, Linlithgow, 20 x 11971; Edinburgh, 15 x 1981; Bridge of Allan, 10 x 1981; Coul Wd., Fife, 12 x 2000; Binning Wd., 5 ix 2009)) and Clyde (Dougalston, Milngarvie, 28 x 1975). Also record from Mull and
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. storea With description listed by Stevenson on roots of trees at Tay (Glencarse) and exhibited at the Perth Fungus Show. The var. caespitosus of this species is in fact P. cotonea q.v.

Known from Forth (Corstorphine, 28 ix 2005; Daniel Stewart’s School, Edinb., 5 vi 1988 and RBGdn., Edinb., 23 vi 1960), Clyde (L. Nethan),Tweed (Penicuik, 22 x 1966; Dawyck, on upturned stump;, 10 iv 1999), Solway (Castle Kennedy, 23 v 1986), Tay (Kindrogan, 26 viii 1976; Dunkeld, 5 ix 1954) and Dee (Crathes Castle, 16 viii 1964). Previously considered to be C. lagopoides.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. lagopus (Hare’s foot Inkcap) Growing at the margins of flower borders and woodland trails, amongst weedy grass and sometimes on wood chips. Known from Tweed (Dawyck, 14 ix 2001 & 17 x 2002), Clyde (Hamilton High Park, 19 v 1985; Chatelherault & Falls of Clyde), Forth (Inverleith Park, 8 vi 1988, Orchard Brae, 6 x 1963 & RBGdn., Edinb., 30 viii 1963 all Edinb.), Tay (Kindrogan 31 viii 1997 & 18 v 2003; Faskelly, on gymnosperm wood-chips, 20 v 2003) and Argylle (Knapdale, 13 viii 1975). Also known from Mull and Skye. A single record in Stevenson from Moray (Waterford, Forres by Rev. J.Keith) and Tay added in Add. 8. Var. vacillans Known from Tay (Kindrogan). This variety probably represents the commonest variety and most records above belong here.

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. macrocephalus Much confusion over this species, the name often being applied to large basidiomes of C. radiatus q.v. as demonstrated in mating tests by R. Kemp. Only 2 collection sites are known for an independent species but even this may not be the true ‘macrocephalus’ - Moray (Nethy Bridge, 28 viii 1969 & 23 viii 1970 & Kincraig, on pony dung, 737C, 7 ix 1962). Collections from Forth (Bush Est., Penicuik, 4 vii 1955) and Clyde (Chatelherault), Brinkies Brae and Howe both Orkney, 2 xii & 22 x 1984 respectively have not been tested. Record in Stevenson from Tay (Glamis). Records from Mull, Harris and Ulva have not be tested and may be C. radiatus.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. pseudoradiatus On rabbit droppings. Recorded from Forth (Lothians).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. radiatus Rather common on dung especially when brought into lab. for incubation. Records from Forth (Corstorphine, 29 iv 1964 & Blackford Hill, 25 v 1967 both Edinb.; Gullane, 15 iv 1965) and Tay (Kindrogan on dung, 18 v 2003).. Also known from Orkney incl. Graemsay and Birsay, Harris, Mull and Ulva. As C. macrocephalus (see above) recorded from St Kilda, Dee (Dinnett, 15 viii 1964) and Forth (East Craigs, Edinb., 17 11 1966) and Orkney. In Stevenson all Watersheds except Sutherland, Solway, Argyllle and Ross. Records also on old door mats at least one imported from Taiwan Forth (Dalkeith, x 1976; Barnton 26 x 1976) and amongst nettles in zooplethesmic grassland Forth (Isle of May, viii 1957).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. scobicola Described from decaying sawdust and wood-chips. Known only from Binscarth, Orkney, 26 ix 1994. Described from Devon, England with type in E; see Orton Notes 32: 147. This may represent C. bilanatus Kemp nom. prov. discussed and noted from Scotland in TBMS.

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. disseminatus (Fairy Inkcap) Quite common in huge colonies on fallen trunks and stumps or at the base of dying frondose trees. Widespread but material in E surprisingly only from Forth (Ravelston, on Prunus serrulata, viii 2004; Mayfield, Edinb., 24 viii 1990; Yellowcraig, Dirleton, 15 vi 1983; RBGdn., Edinb., on mossy trunk of D. longifolia (Urticaceae), Centre Hse,, 15 iii 1961 & on Morus 14 viii 1962.) and Clyde ( Blantyne & L. Nethan). Also material from Islay on Ulmus log. Recorded for Tweed, Tay, Forth, Moray & Clyde in Stevenson, as Ag. (Psathyrella) diseeminatus and for Solway in Add. 8.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. ephemerus On dungy soil. Known from Tay (Kindorgan, 19 viii 1967 & Blairgowrie, 25 vi 1966); also St Kilda. Records in Stevenson probably cover several distinct entities; recorded from all Watersheds except Sutherland, Solway and Argylle.

Known from Tweed (Penicuik, 21 ix 1967 R.Kemp), Forth (Blackford Hill, Edinb., on horse dung, vii - viii 1967, R. Kemp ), Moray (Craigellachie, on deer dung, 21 viii 2005), Tay (Glen Isla, on red deer dung, 25 vi 1966) and Dee (Midman Castle, Aberdeenshire, 14 vii 1957). Also known from St Kilda, Mull, Colonsay, Orkney and Shetland. The record in Stevenson pg. 412 Add. as C. nycthemerus on dung, Tay (Glamis Castle Park) probably belongs here.

Known from Ross (Toscaig, Dennis, 1948), Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Forth (Bavelaw, on Pinus sylvestris, 28 v 1963; Dean Village, 4 vii 1973; Dalmahoy, 29 ix 1973; Blinkbonny, site of former Sorbus aucuparia, xi 2005, thru’ i 20009, sometimes 3 distinct fruitings a year; RBGdn., Edinb., 18 v 1967, 25 iii 1977 & 13 ix 1977; Inverleith Pk., 28 vi 1976; Braid Hills, ix 1879 & Mortonhall, x 1878 both legit E Evans; Borlands Howe nr. Known from Solway (Glen Cairn, I x 2000), Forth (Callander, 25 i 1966; Lothians), Clyde (Falls of Clyde), Dee (Inverey on Oryctolagus dung, 19 v 2003), Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 21 v 2003; Kindrogan, 18 v 2003; Lui Bridge, 19 v 2003; Ben Vrackie, 22 vi 1968;) and Moray (Rothiemurchus, 3 ix 1960; Coylum Bridge, 28 v 1961). Known from S. Uist, Rhum, Orkney, Shetland, Mull and Ulva; also Handa. A large spored form on deer dropping recorded from Shetland.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. corthunatus On dungy mixtures of straw and on old dung. Known from Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 9 – 22 x 1973) and Moray (Forest Lodge, Abernethy, 10 ix 1996).

Known from Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 25 ix 1970; Kindrogan, 7 ix 1969; Blackcraig, Bridge of Cally, 20 viii 1972), Sutherland (Bettyhill, 10 x 1975), Moray (Abernethy, 3 vi 1972; Lochan Mor, Rothiemurchus, 26 ix 1967; Nethy Bridge, 16 ix 2003) and Forth (Blackford Hill, Edinb.. vii 1967; Gullane, 15 iv 1963; Corstorphine, 29 ii 1964; Pentland Hills, 9 vi 2003). Also records from Shetland, Mull, Rhum, Vatersay, and Loch Duidibeg, S. Uist. As the synonym C. hendersonii with single record for Moray ( Rothiemurchus, Rev. J. Keith) in Stevenson.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. latisporus On cattle and sheep dung.. Known from dung Moray (Abernethy, 14 ix 1984) & Tay (Straloch, xxx). Also records from Graemasay, Sanday and Egilsay all Orkney and Whalsay, Shetland and known from Skye. Considered by Dutch authors to be the same as C. niveus; see below. Type from Somerset, England in E; see Orton Notes 32: .
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. lipophilus On dung and dung mixtures. Known from Tay (on burnt area near silage, Kindrogan, 19 viii 1967) and Forth (on horse dung, Blackford Hill, 25 v 1967). A 2-spored form noted from Forth (Midlothian, 20 x 1967), Whalsay Shetland and Dishig, Mull. One collection from Mull associated with sheep corpse.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. niveus (Snowy Inkcap) On cow and sheep dung. Known from Tay (Blair Atholl, no dates; Blackcraig, nr. Bridge of Cally, 20 viii 1972; Killin, 8 viii 1971; Camghouran Rannoch, 18 ix 1976j), Tweed (St Abbs Head, 31 iii 1997), Argylle (Glen Orchy, 6 vii 1985), Sutherland (Bettyhill, 22 ix 1984), Clyde (L. Nethan), Moray (Rothiemurchus, 27 ix 1969; Kincraig, 7 ix 1963) and Forth (Thruipmuir, Balerno, 15 x 1961; Peniciuk, x 1869 W. Evans; on compost with tomatoes, Blinkbonny, viii 1972). Also known from S. Uist, Vatersay, Colonsay, Shetland, Orkney, Rhum and Mull, and Balnakil, 19 ix 1972 localise. All Watersheds noted in Stevenson except Sutherland, Solway and Argyll.

Collection of 2-spored form from Forth (Edinb. incubated in lab.; also Lothians); also known from Whalsay, pathside, 29 viii 1997). Var. isabellinus recorded from Fisnish, Mull.

TFTaDMSSoCAR P. conopilea (Conical Brittlestem) Margins of wood amongst grass. Known from Clyde (Chatelherault & Falls of Clyde), Forth (Ravelston Wd., Edinb., 2 v 2004; as Panaeolus campanulatus, Luffness Links, 7 xi 1908) and Mull. In Stevenson recorded from Moray (Waterside, Forres by Rev. J.Keith) and in Add. 7 from Tay. Better known in the genus Psathyrella subatrata.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. galericuliformis Caespitose on soil. Known from Forth (. RBGdn., Edinb. material in temp. palm house - on loan type coll) and Tweed (Dawyck, on pathside, 29 viii 1997).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. hemerobius In pastures. Recorded from Mull. Single record in Stevenson for Tay (Glamis Den).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. kuehneri This is C. plicatilis var. microsporus and frequents woodland margins as opposed to pastures and meadows; rarely on dung’. Record as C. leiocephalus from Moray (Loch an Eilean, on pny dung? 11 ix 1963).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. leiocephalus On damp soil in woodlands and margins of copses. Known from Tay (Standing Stones nr., Kirkmichael, 28 viii 1976; Kindrogan, 16 viii 1967; Glen Lyon, 26 ix 1961; Camghouran, 9 viii & 15 ix 1970), Forth (RBGdn., Edinb., Nursery, 28 vi 1991; Balerno, 29 ix 1973; Orchard Brae, Edinb. 1 x 1977), Records also from Skye, Rhum, Mull and Colonsay.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. lilatinctus On wood-chips in mulch. Recently described species and as yet only known from Dee (Manse Wd., Braemar) and Tay (Faskally, also ix 2008).

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. miser On rabbit, cow and horse dung; common and widespread and commonly appears on dung incubated in lab. Known from Tay (Kindrogan, 18 v 2003; Blackcraig Bridge of Cally, 20 viii 1972; Forest of Alyth, 16 viii 1972), Forth (Corstorphine, 29 ii 1964; Graham’s Folly, Fife, vi 1978), Tweed (Yarrow Valley, Selkirk, 20 ix 2003) and Solway (Wood of Cree, 28 v 1986). Also recorded for Shetland and Orkney, St.Kilda, Raasay, Harris, S. Uist and Rhum.

Also from Barra, Coll, Skye, Eigg, St Kilda, Rousay, Shetland incl. Fetlar, Orkney incl. Hoy, Mull, Arran and Gigha. Old records in E for Carlowie, x 1821 and ‘Common in pastures; autumn’ Greville 477. Recorded from all Watersheds except Argyll and Sutherland in Stevenson Material from Forth (Inverleith Park, Edinb.) as C. hemerobius is this present species.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. schroeteri On cattle dung. Records from Forth (Selmuir, 7 x 1967), Tay (Standing Stones, nr. Kirkmichael, on bull dung, 22 viii 1972; Blair Atholl, on soil 20 v 2003; Lochan an Daim, 21 v 2003; Dalreaich, Enochdu, 15 viii 1974), Dee (Morrone Wd., in grass, 19 v 2003) and Moray (Rothiemurchus, 26 ix 1983). Known also from Bernary and Mull. This was previously know as C. nudiceps described from Moray (Tomich, 3 ix 1971; type in E ): see Orton Notes 32: 142.
C. spraugei Recorded from Arran by Paterson, 1876 but this is either an introduction as the species was described from North America or a misidentification.
C. tomentosus in Stevenson and recorded from dung in Tay and Moray is probably a member of the Sect. Impexi.
TFTaDMSSoCAR Ozonium auriconium A vegetative stage of members of the Coprinellus Sect. Domestici, although has been associated also with C. disseminatus and C. micaceus. The stages are common on old wood particularly fallen branches often early in the year. Recent records from Forth (Newhailes 2 ii 2006; Carberry Tower, iii 5 iii 2006; Lime Mill, Dunbar). Surprisingly not in Stevenson.
