Known from Forth (Edinburgh Bowling Green; viii 1939; Dalmahoy on Lolium perrene - rye grass, x 1946; RBGdn., Edinb., Rose Lawn on Festuca, 10 x 1968) and Solway (as Isaria, Auchincruivre, 21 viii 1942), Skye, Mull and Iona on Festuca rubra, 13 ix 1968. Also from Beddyelet as Isaria on wild Agrostis, ix 1942. Locality to check. An important turf disease and known as Red Thread (Foister, 1958).
TFTaDMSSoCAR T. caeruleum Cobalt Crust Records as Corticium and Pulcherrimum caerleum. Known from Forth (Blinkbonny, Edinb., on Corylus wattle fencing prob. originally from southern England, spreading onto soil, 23 ii 2002 – maintained for several years on Corylus wattle on compost heap at same address) and apparently several records from Clyde, Ross (Loch Maree) and Colonsay. As Byssus phosphorea Menzies collection W. Hoy but annotated VC 63 nr. Linn Hse. 1790, det. W. Julich. Known from Dee (Middleton, Aberdeen Prof. Dickie) in Stevenson.
TFTaDMSSoCAR V. comedens Waxy Crust Common and widespread on freshly fallen branches and twigs, especially Quercus & Fagus, causing the peridium to curl back. Known from Forth (Bawsinch, Edinb., on Crateagus, 4 viii 2002), Moray (Invergordon, on Fagus, 18 iii 1996), Clyde (Cartland Crags), Tweed (Dawyck, on Fagus 14 ix 2000 & 30 iii 1999), Sutherland (Tongue, on Betula, Dennis, 1955). Also known from Raasay, Rhum, Mull (on Corylus), Mull, Islay & Colonsay all on Quercus and Skye (on Corylus, Fagus & Salix). Also old Greville coll. ? in E as Thelephora no further details. In Stevenson recorded as Corticium from all Watersheds but Sutherland, Solway, Argyll and Ross.

Edinb., iii 1914; Blinkbonny Edinb., on Hebe, 5 iv 2006), Moray (Loch an Eilean, on dead wood, 22 viii 2005) and Clyde (Chatelherault & U. Nethan). Also records from Lewis, Barra, Mull, Gigha (on Ulex), Shetland (on Hedera, Tresta) and Rhum (on Aesculus). Included here is Klotzsch material of Merulius aurantiacus in E from ‘Dougalston Park, Glasgow’, although Bourdot & Galzin considered it a young stage of Leucogyrophana mollusca (Coniophoraceae; Boletales). Material in K as Merulius molluscus and as M serpens from Tay (Glamis) and from Jerdon sent to Currey, prob. from Jedburgh; see Reid & Austwick, 1963.

TFTaDMSSoCAR M. aurea Known from Forth (Binning Wd., on old sodden Quercus, 3 ix 2006; Vogrie Co. Pk., on Aesculus, 6 vii 2003; Prestonhall, Pathhead, 29 ix 2001). Also records from Jura, Colonsay, on Quercus. As Hydnum nodulosum in Stevenson and recorded as such from Tay (Warren Wd., Glamis, 1876).

Known from Tweed & Tay, Argyll in Stevenson. Also his record of Corticium viscosum from Argyll (Appin) may refer here or to a record of Tremella viscosa. Exidiopsis epigaea & Stypella grilletii as Tremella viscosa under which some records may be placed in Stevenson; see under those species.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. radiata Wrinkled Crust Very variable and common throughout Lowland Scotland on branches and twigs. Includes records as P. aurantiaca for orange coloured collections and P. merismoides for pale pinkish collections; P. radiata refers to collections with mixtures of purple and reddish hues. As P. radiata from Clyde (Younger BGdn., Dunoon, on Sorbus, xi 1963), Forth (Colinton Dell, on ? Acer, 26 ii 1978) and Orkney, and as P. mersmoides known from Mull (on Fraxinus) & Moray (Forres, 11 1870 presumably Rev. Keith). Old collection of P. radiata in E dated 1822 and presumably collected by Greville. In Stevenson known from Tay, Dee, Moray and Argyll and as P. mersmiodes from Forth, Tay and Moray.

TFTaDMSSoCAR P. gigantea Common on coniferous wood and litter. Recorded from Forth (Currie, on Picea, 2 vi 2002; Fife, Auchteradre Nursery, on Chamaecyparis obtusata in seed bed, xi 1977}, Dee {Midmar Forest, Aberdeen on Pinus contorta, vi 1991}, Tweed (Glen Tress, on conifer trunk 24 v 1975 & conifer butt, 4 x 1974; Dawyck, on cut end of Abies alba, 3 xii 2001) and Tay (Oinver, on conifer, 27 ix 1975). In Stevenson as Corticium and known therein from all Watersheds incl. Solway, Clyde and Argyll and excepting Forth, Tweed, Sutherland and Ross. Has been introduced to control Heterobasidion in forest husbandry throughout Scotland.

TFTaDMSSoCAR S. vitellina Roothole Rosette Along trails in pinewood amongst soil, moss and some pine debris. Known from Moray (Abernethy 8 ix 1998, 2 7 7 2001). This species is based on material from Moray (Aviemore, legit Plowright; Boat of Garten, coll. Scott Elliot, 18 ix 1900); also material from Abernethy 19 ix 1900 det. C. Rea as Stereum sowerbei.

TFTaDMSSoC?A?R P. sanguinea Tay (Raith, 1921; Murthley, on Pinus sylvestris, iv 1920), Forth (Kirkcaldy, 2 vii 1978) and Moray (Rothiemurchus, ix 1938, Young). Known in Stevenson from Forth, Tay, Dee & Moray. There are two collections of Thelephora miniata in K based on collections from Scotland, one from Argyll (Appin legit Carmichael) and another from Clyde (Gilmorehill, Glasgow on Betula). There is some doubt as to what this fungus is and it could possibly be placed here. T. miniata was described by Berkeley based on Hooker specimens which Klotzsch had annotated.

Included here is a collection of Stereum ochroleucum in K from Tay (Glamis, Angus) named by M.J.Berkeley. Attacked by Litschaueria corticiorum Forth (Dalkeith, 1 vii 2001).

TFTaDMSSoCAR F. hepatica Beef steak fungus. On Quercus often high on the main trunk and frequently arising from wounds. Recent records from Tweed (Dawyck) and Forth (Dalkeith), Clyde ( Chatelherault and Falls of Clyde, L. Nethan on Quercus petraea); also Jura. Single record on Castanea in Forth (Stirling University Grounds). In Stevenson recorded from all Watersheds incl. Solway, Argyll, Tay & Moray, but excepting Tweed, Sutherland Ross and Dee. Also unlocalised material in E for Scotland. Considered an important pathogen of Castanea & Quercus (Foister, 1958).

TFTaDMSSoCAR H. candidus Known from Forth (Auchendinny, Midlothian as Peziza solenia) and Argyll (Baderloch, Lora Walk, 11 ix 1990). Single records from Islay and Skye and one from Mull on bark, Croggan 8, ix 1976. Also unlocalized material possibly from Greville in E as Solenia canidida. Some interpretations of Solenia fasciculata belong here. Additional material on Fraxinus and on Polystichum also from Mull are noted as Henningsomyces cf. candidus.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. fimbriatum This species is recorded in Stevenson as P. friesii (spelt friesii), from Tay , Dee & Moray on dead pine. This has been placed in the genus Stromatoscypha, which is an obligate synonym.
Three other species of Porothelium are listed by Stevenson, viz. P. confusum, described from material on ‘fir sticks’ at Glen Tanner (Dee), P. keithii and P. stevensonii, described from material dressed pine rail at Glen of Ogilvy, Glamis (Tay). The first and the last both accompanied by a short description are now considered to be Dacryobolus sudanicus, q.v. P. keithii, also with a short description in Stevenson and described from Sanquhar, Dunphail (Moray) collected by Rev. J. Keith is considered a dubious species; see Reid & Austwick, 1963.

Kilkenny’s record), Forth (RBGdn., Edinb.26 iii 1956, on plant boxes), Tay (Tentsmuir, on drift wood) and Dee (Aberdeenshire) and on silage bags Solway (Logan Bot. Gdn., Glencairn) and Forth (Mains of Comrie, Fife, 1 ix 1987;) isolated from straw in connection with study of Farmer’s Lung Forth (Edinburgh, viii 1972). Also in E is an unlocalized and undated specimen in collections of Isaac Bayley Balfour - this might not even be Scottish or from the British Isles. In Stevenson recorded from Forth and Clyde with the latter emphasised as being on imported logs. The site of the Forth record from Dundas Hill has been examined by Stevenson and considered a native sighting; this material is in E.

TFTaDMSSoCAR P. pseudotsugae Said to be common and widespread on coniferous wood but only known from Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, on fallen branches of Pinus sylvestris, 21 v 2003). Recorded as Xensma or Corticium.
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. sulphurea Yellow Cobweb As Corticium vaga etc. and Trechispora; apparently common and widespread but material only from Dee (Inverery, nr. Braemar, on fallen branch of Pinus sylvestris, 19 v 2003). As Corticium in Stevenson and recorded from Tay (Glamis Den, 1874) and as Phlebia vaga and then recorded from Dee (Strachan, J. Sim).
