Known from Sutherland (on living mosses, 9 ix 1980; Tom Apigill on mossy willow branch, 22 ix 2006), Ross ( Morven, in Frullania, on Corylus,10 xi 1992), Tay (Loch Garry, 3 1 1999; Kindrogan, on gymnosperm branch, 18 v 2003) and Argylle (Seill, on hepatics on Corylus, 8 xii 1997). Also known from Forth (Lothians) and recorded from Rhum, Skye and Mull. A single record also under the synonym Cyphella galeata from Sutherland (Rogart, 18 v 1971). Also recent record from
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. mollis Peeling Oysterling On trunks and old branches, especially of Fraxinus. Widespread and common, easily recognized by the gelatinous pellicle. Records from Kintyre and Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Ross (Loch Carron on Fraxinus 23 x 1962; Applecross, Dennis, 1948), Tweed (Dawyck BGdn), Tay (St Andrews xi 1955; on Fraxinus Blair Atholl 2 x 1994, Glen Lyon 26 ix 1961), Sutherland (Drumbeg on Sorbus 3 viii 1986), Moray (Loch Mor, Rothiemurchus on Populus 14 ix 1957), Clyde (Blantyre, Falls of Clyde etc. Loch Lomond, Creinch 10 x 1979) and Forth (Lothians). Recent records from Lewis, Skye on Salix, Mull, Rhum, Islay, Colonsay and several sites at Binscarth, Orkney. Klotzsch collection in E for Oct. 1830 Duglisham. In Stevenson noted for all Watersheds incl. Dee & Argylle but excluding Sutherland and Solway, although recorded in Add 8 for the latter. The record of Ag. (Crepidotus) alveolus from Forth is referrable here as is one from Tweed (Roxburgh collected by Rev. D. Paul) in Add 9. The record of Ag. algidus (= Hohenbuehelia) in Stevenson based on material from Forth (Linlithgow from J. Bauchop) and in Cooke’s Handbook also probably belongs here; see Reid & Austwick, 1963.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. calolepis Often synonymized with C. mollis but is considered distinct, not being simply a scaly C. mollis as often quoted. Recent record from Tay (Ben Mohr 25 ix 1991), Argylle (Arisaig, ix 1963), Ross (Kishorn 29 ix 1959) and Clyde (Kintyre & Creinch, Loch Lomond 10 x 1979). Also recorded on Salix from Skye and known from Mull and Colonsay. It is recorded with description from Forth in Stevenson being exhibited at the Edinburgh Fungus Show in 1878.

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. carpaticus Known in Britain under the name C. wakefieldiae for which there are two records from Forth (Glen Dollar 7 viii 1990 & Midlothian on pea sticks ix 1985) and one from dead wood Clyde (Falls of Clyde).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. cesati Not uncommon on old twiggy debris often during the colder months. Several collections from Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Forth (Bawsinch, Edinburgh 4 viii 2002; East Linton on Fagus 1 111 2003; Dalkieth 18 1 2004 on old twigs & Ilex, Glen Corse, Peniciuk 1 x 2000), Clyde (Falls of Clyde, Loch Nethan & Chatelherault), Tay (Glen Esk, Kincardineshire 5 ix 1955; Kindrogan, on Larix decidua, 20 v 2003; Black Craig nr. Blairgowrie 20 viii 1967; Loch Craiglush, Blairgowrie 3 x 1956 & Blair Atholl 2 x 1994; Kindrogan, 18 v 2003). Also known from Shetland and Orkney and from Mull. Record from Moray (Aigas 20 ix 1985 as a subsphaeriform spored form often separated out as C.kaviniae (= C. subsphaerosporus), now considered independent. Known from Shetland, Orkney Skye, Islay and Mull.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. lundelii A very variable fungus for which many names have been proposed and many interpretations made. Recent record from Moray (Insh Marshes, on Populus tree, 23 viii 2005). As C. amygdalisporus is known from a single record from Moray (Strathfarrer 26 xi 1985) and as C. inhonestus a single record from twiggy debris in Forth (Dalkeith 18 1 2004). Single record under C. subtilis from Mull. As C. sambuci recorded from Shetland and from Solway (Glen Cairn 1 x 2000).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. luteolus Yellowing Oysterling Known from Forth (Hopetoun House, South Queensferry 5 x 2002 & Yellow Craig nr. Dirleton 7 v 2000), Clyde (Blantyre, Loch Nethan & Creinich Loch Lomond 10 x 1971on Fraxinus) and Tay (Rannoch 23 x 1976). Also from Mull.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. versutus Recorded as C. pubescens on twiggy debris. Known from Tay (Inver 12 ix 1975, Rannoch 31 x 1965 - 7 x 1973, Davan, Kindrogan on soil about rabbit burrow 16 x 1973), Forth (Balerno 11 x 1954) and Clyde (Shore Wd., Dunbartonshire 10 x 1979).
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. variabilis Variable Oysterling Recent records from Vatersay, Forth (Penicuik 4 x 1953, on Epilobium South Queensferry 6 x 1968 & Doune Ponds nr. Stirling on Chamanerion 23 x 2000), Tay (Tentsmuir nr. St Andrews x 1958, Inver 27 ix 1975 & Aberfeldy 5 x 1985), Clyde (Blantyre, Falls of Clyde etc.) and Tweed (Bowhill, Selkirk 25 ix 1976). Records from Tweed, Forth, Tay, Dee, Moray and Clyde in Stevenson as Ag. (Claudopus) variabilis.
TFTaDMSSoCAR C. graminicola Probably better known as C. herbarum and now to be called C. epibryus. As C. herbarum known from Tweed (Murder Moss, Selkirk x 1979; Dawyck 29 ix 1999) and Tay ( Camghouran 11 x 1964 & Dall 22 ix 1973 both at Rannoch) and Forth (Saltoun Big Wd., 2 x 1994). In addition known from Skye. Also as Ag. (Pleurotus ) septicus on wood and fungi etc. from Tweed, Tay, Dee, Moray & Argylle in Stevenson. However, it might be that the records of Ag. (Pleurotus) septicus refer to a raft of different taxa with small white shell-shaped astipittate pilei.

In Forth known from pots of Pinus brutia, P. densifolia, P. keysia, P. leiophylla, P. pseudostrobus, P. remorata and P. tabulaeformis (in a cool greenhouse at RBG Edinb. vii 1979).

TFTaDMSSoCAR I. asterospora (Star Fibrecap) Widespread but not common; associated with deciduous trees and less frequently with conifers. Known from Forth (Slipperfield, 7 vii 2002; Hopetoun, South Queensferry, 5 x 2002; Pittencreiff, Dunfermline, 19 viii 1980; RBG Edinb., 13 viii 1954; Thruipmuir, Balerno, 9 ix 1954), Clyde (Cleghorn Glen), Tweed (Dawyck, 20 viii 2001 thru’ 4 x 2001) and possible collection from Sutherland (Ben Hope, with Salix herbacea & Arctous, 7 ix 1980). Also Shetland, Arran, Mull, Ulva, Lewis, Skye, Rhum and Colonsay. Surprisingly not in Stevenson until App. 9 where it is recorded for Tay (Glamis) and Moray (Rothiemurchus); short description accompanies the records. Attacked by Sporodinia grandis Forth (Edinb. RBGdn, 13 viii 1954).
TFTaDMSSoCAR I. bresadolae A record from Tay (Ballinluig) is recorded with description in Stevenson under the name I. trinii which Kuyper believes is the correct name for this species. However, British material of this taxon has not been located.
TFTaDMSSoCAR I. calida Single collection in K as I. brunneorufa from Ross (Kinlochewe, 1963).
TFTaDMSSoCAR I. concinnula Single record from Midfield, Shetland with Salix herbacea; comes close to I. egenula; see below.

Known from Moray (Abernethy, Betula/Pinus, 25 viii 2005), Tweed (with Tilia 7 vii 2001, with Picea, 4 x 1999 & with Fagus 14 ix 2001), Dee (Glen Lui, Braemar, 26 vi 1965 with Pinus), Clyde (Chatelherault), Forth (RBG Edinb., 6 viii 1954) and Moray (Meall Ghaordie, with Salix herbacea 2 ix 2003) and Sutherland (Lairg, 29 vii 1980). Also material from Orkney, Mull, Skye, Arran, Colonsay and Shetland.
TFTaDMSSoCAR I. oreina A collection with Salix herbacea from Moray (Coire Garbhlach, 20 viii 2003) agrees in part with this taxon.
TFTaDMSSoCAR I. pallida Single recent record amongst moss under conifers from Tay (Black Craig Wd., Bridge of Cally, 2003).

TFTaDMSSoCAR I. corydalina (Greenflush Fibrecap) On soil in woodland. Single record from Mull. Material in K as Ag. scaberis referrable to this present taxon especially var. erinaceomorpha but Stevenson and App. 4 indicated that ‘scaber’ is known from Tweed, Forth, Dee, Tay & Clyde and latterly Moray indicating it is more widespread than I. corydalina is today. Undoubtedly more work is required to understand early interpretations of this species. Klotzsch material from Pinmore ix 1830 is in E.
TFTaDMSSoCAR I. pyriodora (Pear Fibrecap) Recorded in Dryas lawns from Sutherland (Bettyhill, 4 ix 1973) and Ross (Loch Eriboll, 24 ix 1984). Records from Rhum and Mull. Also recorded by Klotzsch according to Stevenson who also records it from Dee (Denmore, Aberdeen by Prof. Dickie).

Records from Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Sutherland (Tongue, Dennis, 1955), Clyde ( Chatelherault, Falls of Clyde & Jock’s Gill; Ben More Younger BGdn., 25 ix 1989), Tweed (Dawyck, 3 xii 2001), Forth (Pond Lawn, RBGEdinb, 23 viii 1954; Carberry Tower, Wallyford, 24 ix 2000; Saltoun x 1938 Rupert Smith), Argylle (Dorlin, Dennis, 1951), Moray (Abernethy, 23 viii 2005; Curr Wd., 26 viii 2005; Plodda, 29 viii 1957), Ross (Gairloch Dennis, 1948), and Tay (Straloch nr. Kindrogan, 2 ix 1982). Known from Arran, Mull, Lewis, Coonsay, Skye, & Orkney. Klotzsch collections in E include one labelled ‘Kinnordy Aug. 1830’, the other non-localised ‘very common July to Oct. 1830’ and Greville collection from Banks of Loch Lomond 1821. In Stevenson recorded from all Watersheds incl. Dee except Sutherland, Solway and Argyll.
Var. lilacina (Lilac Fibrecap) (incl. var. violacea) is as widespread but perhaps not as common as type variety and rarely occurs without the type variety. Known from Forth (Long Hope Dean, Lammermuir, 17 viii 1996), Tay (Inver, 23 ix 1975), Moray (Glenmore Forest Pk., 20 viii 2005; Granton on Spey, 26 viii 2005; Plodda 29 viii 1957) and Clyde (Chatelherault, Falls of Clyde etc.; Marklands Hospital Airdrie, x 1981 in poison case in mistaken identity for Psilocybe), from Skye, Islay and Mull. Recorded from Shetland.

Var. major Records include Rhum, Tay (Staloch nr. Kindrogan with Salix repens, 16 viii 1978) and Tweed (Dawyck 2 xi 2000 & 2 viii 2001) and Forth where it.was involved in a case of a dog poisoning in Edinburgh; see Mycologist. This variety under the name of I. obscura is recorded in Stevenson for Moray (Greeshop) collected by Rev. Keith. Included herein is I. obscuroides described by Orton from Yorkshire, England and recorded under this name from Mull.

TFTaDMSSoCAR I. flocculosa (Fleecy Fibrecap) In deciduous woods, less frequently in mixed woodland. Rather variable and known by many names in British literature. Known from Moray (Loch an Eilean, under Pinus sylvestris, 22 viii 2005; Abernethy, 25 viii 2005), Dee (with Pinus sylvestris, Inverey, 24 viii 1995), Solway (Glen Cairn under Aesculus, 1 x 2000), Argylle (Ben Lui with Salix arbuscula, 26 viii 2003), Forth (Balerno, with Fagus, 11 x 1954), Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 28 ix 1994), Clyde (Falls of Clyde) and Tweed (Duns, 28 ix 2002); also from Orkney.
As I. abjecta in sense of ‘New Check List’ & Lange, 1938 non Kuyper, 1986 noted from Tay (Kindrogan 29 viii 1965 & Bailemeanach check 8 ix 1968), Sutherland (Bridge of Borgie, Dennis, 1955), Ross (Applecross, Dennis, 1948), Eigg and Mull. Record of a member of this group named I. cf. abjecta from Arran. A collection labelled I. subtigrina is known from Mull. Records as I. deglubens from Tay and Ross in Stevenson might be referable here, although variously interpreted. Single record of Ag. (Inocybe) lucifuga in Stevenson from Tay (Glamis) may belong to this complex although Kuyper (1986) does not believe the original interpretation is of an Inocybe; record for Mull under Quercus under this name. Material named as f. gracillima in E known from Dee (Dinnett, 11 x 1997, under Quercus), Tay (Camghouran, Rannoch, 17 ix 1978) and Moray (Culbin Sands, 6 ix 1988; Loch an Eilean, under Pinus sylvestris, 22 viii 2005; Glenmore Forest Pk., 20 viii 2005). Clearly work is required on this taxon some records may even refer to members of the Mallocybe.
Var. crocifolia Known from Tay (Tentsmuir, 18 viii 2002).

A collection made 17 ix 1927 from Moray ( Aviemore) and labelled I. tomentosa may belong here. Possibly better known as I. eutheles, a species described form Dee (Aboyne) by Rev. J. Berkeley. Under this name in Stevenson it is also recorded from Moray (Forres), collected by Rev. Keith. In contrast Stevenson also records a collection from Tay (Glamis) under Ag.(Inocybe) sinodinus.

As I. hirsuta records from Tay (Stormont Loch, Blairgowrie, 30 ix 1952; Caenlochan, Angus, with Salix herbacea 8 vii 1953) and Moray (Aviemore, 12 ix 1927). In Stevenson Add. 1 recorded for Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch by Buchanan White) and Add. 8 from Solway.
TFTaDMSSoCAR I. cervicolor In deciduous or mixed woodland. Collections from Moray (Loch an Eilean, ix 1960), Tweed (Dawyck 13 viii 2008) and Forth (Bolton Muir Wd., East Lothian, 18 ix 1952) appear to agree with this taxon. This may be what has been called in Stevenson I. relicina Fr. and known in Scotland only from Kinnordy noted by Klotzsch ‘ Sept. 1830’ with specimens in E. The true I. relicina appears to be a member of the sg. Asterosporina and is not known from Britain.

In Stevenson as Ag.. fastgiatus, where it is recorded from Tay, Dee and Clyde but records therein also apply to Ag. (Inocybe) rimosus probably reflecting the great variation found in this taxon. I. rimosa is recorded from all but Sutherland. Records under I. rimosa and Clyde (Banks of Loch Lomond 1821 Herb. Greville!).

With Salix repens, Burra, Shetland. A collection named I. perbrevis from Forth (Doune Ponds, 23 ix 2000) may belong here but differs in thin, olivaceous yellow gills. f. peronata is known from Tay (Tentsmuir, with Salix repens, 5 viii 1957. Recorded in Stevenson with description from Tay (Killiecrankie, on ground in mixed wood) and in Stevenson Add. 1 recorded also for Tay (Rannoch).

I. phaeocephalus is recorded in Stevenson with description from Tay (Glamis),. Kuyper ( ) does not consider this species to be even an Inocybe although Cooke’s interpretation, despite it not being well defined, certainly depicts an Inocybe of some sort.
I. vatricosa Recorded from Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 26 viii 1954) but it is uncertain to which species this refers.
