In Stevenson records of Ptychogaster albus under that name can be found under Institale Fr. as. I. effusa in the Trichodermacei. It is recorded on pine stumps in Tay, Dee, Moray & Solway. Stevenson discusses at great length, including a summary of correspondence with Fries to whom a Scottish specimen was sent. The clamydosporic stage has been associated with Polyporus destructor which in the sense to British authors is Antrodia gossypina qv but a connection with Postia can be demonstrated in the field..
