TFTaDMSSoCAR F. bisphaerigera. In mixed and conifer woodlands, some years in substanial.numbers. Known from Forth (Carnwath), Moray (Aigas, 4 ix 1981) and Tay (Black Craig Wd., nr. Ballantium, under Picea, 29 viii 1976 & Kindrogan, 19 viii 1966; Glen Esk Gannorchy, Kincardineshire, 31 viii 1953 & 5 xi 1954). Known from Skye, Rhum and Mull. Also appears in the literature as F. gracilipes.

TFTaDMSSoCAR G. pseudoclusilis On lawns and in hill pasture. Records from Mainland include those from Moray (Abernethy, 5 ix 1985 & Rothiemurchus, 12 ix 1957) and Tay (Loch Rannoch, 20 x 1968). Also known from St. Kilda and Fair Isle and reported from Eday, Orkney. These last collections should be re-examined in the light of the description of G. arctica.
TFTaDMSSoCAR G. striatula Widespread but nowhere common; in grass along roadsides, margins of woods etc. recorded from Tay (Loch Rannoch, 29 ix 1964) and Dee (Derry Lodge, Lui Flats, 11 x 1999), Arran, Harris, Skye, Rhum and more recently from North Uist, 8 viii 2000; also Kintyre (Solway) and a single record from Burrafirth, Shetland. Not recorded from Orkney. This species has been placed in the superfluous genus Stachyomphalina .
TFTaDMSSoCAR H. floccipes On mossy logs; rather rare in Scotland. Single records from Forth (Lothians) and Tweed (Dawyck, on fallen mossy Acer trunk, 18 xc 2009). Also known from Kirk Loch, Shetland. Records other than the Dawyck collection need to be reassessed.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. platyphylla Whitelaced Shank Not at all common in Scotland; always attached to wood by long, thick white rhizomorphs. Known from Solway (Knapdale 12 viii 1975) and Clyde (Chatelherault); Scottish voucher material scarce, single collection in E. Recorded from Tay (Glamis, 1881) in Stevenson Add 4.

Known from Forth (Lothians), Tay (Rannoch & Kinnoul Hill, Perth 7 ix 1986; Dall Rannoch 19 x 1968), Moray (Glen Affric, 25 ix 1985) and Tweed (Broughton, 3 x 1957). Also records from burnt soil under conifers, S. Uist.
TFTaDMSSoCAR D. atrocinereum Record from Tay (Kindrogan, 12 ix 1971). Also known from Arran, Syke and Rhum. This species has been synonimized with D. cuneifolium qv.
TFTaDMSSoCAR D. cuneifolium Crazed Cap On mainland Scotland known from Forth (Tantalan, East Lothian, 31 viii 2000) and record from Argyle (Ghlas Dearg????18 ix 1985). Recorded from St Kilda, Skye and Rhum and Shetland. Two records from Fern & Glamis (Tay) in Stevenson but is probably more widespread judging from the results of UK Waxcap survey, although often confused with other species in the genus..
TFTaDMSSoCAR D. fuscobrunneum Single record from Forth (Loch Leven, 18 ix 2000). Recently described from Somerset by Orton. See Notes Royal Bot. Gdn., Edinb. 38: 325, 1980; type in E. This species has been synonimized with D. cuneifolium qv.

TFTaDMSSoCAR L. giganteus Giant Funnel Said to be not uncommon in the central Highlands and south west Scotland (Dennis, 1986); found in parkland, margins of woods sometimes said to be causing stunted growth in plantation trees. Known from Forth (Lasswade, 9 ix 1993, Hermitage of Braid 1 v 1967 & Royal Bot. Gdn., Edinburgh 22 ix 1972 & 29 viii 1973; Heriot Watt, 9 ix 2008), Tweed (Selkirk x 1970), Moray (Loch an Eilean 31 vii 1955) and Tay (in field by lochan Schiehallion). Also material from Garscube collected by Klotzsch Sept. 1830 in E.
TFTaDMSSoCAR L. paradoxus Appears to have a western dsitribution. Single records from Ross (Loch Carron) and from Solway (Dumfries). Sometimes considered the same as L. cerealis.

Known from Moray (Tomich, 28 viii 1957 & 14 ix 1969, Rothiemurchus I ix 1969), Dee (Mar Lodge, 12 x 1999), Tay (Kindrogan, 16 viii 1973), Ross (Inchnadamph, 26 ix 1994 & Kishorn 13 ix 1963) and Solway (Auchencairn, Dumfries 2 x 2000). Known from Syke. Mull & Rhum but surprisingly not recorded from Orkney and Shetland. A single record with description in Stevenson from Tay (Glamis Castle Park).
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. cyathiformis Goblet Widespread; in grass or moss, in open, especially frondose, woods, sometimes on old mossy logs and stumps. Known from all Water-sheds in Stevenson except Argyle and Sutherland. Known from Forth (Dalkeith, amongst moss on pine log, 4 I 2004), Clyde (Blantyre and Falls of Clyde, 12 x 1974 & 2 xi 1974), Argylle (Ardtornish, 7 xi 2009), Tay (Kindrogan, 20 x 1968; Rannoch, 6 xi 1977; Dunkeld, 30 x 1952), Moray (Rothiemurchus, 5 ix 1960) and Tweed (Dawyck, 23 x 1997 & 20 xi 2003). Recent records from Skye, although unrecorded from the Northern islands.

TFTaDMSSoCAR P. graveolens Only known from two recent records in grassland; genuinely uncommon. Tay (Drummond hill, 29 ix 1961 & Glen Lyon, 29 ix 1961 both nr. Fortingall) and Forth (Hope reservoir, East Lothian as P. compressipes, 1 ix 1990).
TFTaDMSSoCAR P. pachyphylla Collected under the synonym Clitocybe incomis (P. Karst.) P.D.Orton, discussed in Orton Trans. Brit. Mycol. Soc. 43 (1960) from Tay (Glen Esk Kincardineshire, 16 ix 1958). Also recorded from Tay (Rannoch, 21 x 1964 & 8 x 1967; Murthly, 6 ix 1953 & Glamis, 19 ix 1981).

TFTaDMSSoCAR B. myosura Conifercone Cap Known from Tweed (Dawyck 28 x 2001 & 3 xii 2001 with Peudotsuga cones), Tay (Corb Wood, Mid-Pethshire, on Picea cones, 5 iii 1989), Forth (Selmuir, on Pinus sylvestris cones, 27 xi 1960 & Saltoun Big Wood, Pencaitland, on Pinus cones, 2 I 2005; Portmoak, 7 iii 2010), Moray (Rothiemurchus, Glen More Lodge 17iv 1986) and Clyde (Falls of Clyde). The records of Ag. conigenus in Stevenson probably refer here, although it is possibkle that the epithet could cover at least two or more other mushrooms. Judging from the fact that Ag. esculentus and Ag. tenacellus are given separate entries in this seems to be the most likely interpreation of the classic data. Under this first epithet in Stevenson it is recorded for Forth, Dee, Tay & Moray.

TFTaDMSSoCAR C. purpureum Common on all kinds of frondose wood, fallen trunk esp. cut-ends of logs, and branches. Frequent on rosaceous fruit trees incl. Malus silvestris ssp. mitis, Pyrus communis where it can cause in Prunus domesticus the economically important Silver leaf disease because of the accumulation of air beneath the epidermis of the leaf. Known on Betula, Fagus, Salix & Ulmus and also in UK on Rhododendron, Syringa, even Lupinus & Rubus fruticosus agg.. Most records as Stereum. Records from Forth (Blinkbonny Edinb., on Prunus domestica 1997-2008; Ravelston Edinb., on Prunus serrulata 8 iii 2010; on Rhododendron auriculatum, RBGdn., Edinb., x 1981; Dalkeith, on Prunus domestica, v 1935, 2 collections, Merchiston, on P. domestica, vii 1925), Moray (Inverness on Prunus domestica, vi 1925), Tweed (Dawyck), Clyde (S. Central area, Clyde Valley; L. Nethan; Chatelherault; Younger BGdn., Dunoon, on Fagus, 30 ix 1971). Noted for Lewis & Kintyre. Old material in E incl. collection from Forth (Braids, Edinb., x 1878), material from Balgally Wd., as Thelephora xii 1894, 2 collections but Menzies? as Thelephora purpurea. Also Klotzsch collection as Thelephora ‘ad truncis Betulinis Oct. 1830’. In Stevenson recorded from all Watersheds except Sutherland, Solway and Ross. Noted in Foister (1958) indicating that it was first recorded in 1922 from the plum and greengage cultivation areas in Clyde Valley but probably occurred long before that. The Silver Leaf Order 1922 which requires infected trees to be removed is discussed therein. Noted in Scotland on Ribes nigrum, Prunus cerasus, P. lusitanica, P. persica with var. nectarina, Sorbus hybrida but also Azara microphylla (Flacourtiaceae) and Sarathamnus praecox
TFTaDMSSoCAR F. velutipes Velvet Shank Common and widespread on a whole range of broad-leaved substrates, including Ilex, Laburnum, Quercus, Ulmus,Ulex, Sarathamnus, Cytisus italianus and Solanum crispum. Known from Skye and Binscarth, Orkney with many records for Forth (Comley Bank & Balerno, Edinburgh; Glen Dollar), Tweed (Dawyck), Tay (St. Andrews) and Clyde (Dunbarton, L.Lethan, Cleghorn Glen, Chaterherault, Falls of Clyde, Carron reservoir). Klotzsch material in E. Recorded from Solway, Argylle & Sutherland in Stevenson. This is called Velvet-stem from the dark brown tomentose stipe base, although in Enoki, available in Supermarkets the fungus is grown etiolated and then the pileus and stipe lack colouration. It is imported into this country.

The records from Tweed & Tay in Stevenson under Ag. stellatus and from Tay (Glen Tilt collected by Buchanan White) as Ag. (Omphalia) gracillimus all may refer here or possibly to some other Hemimycena. There is some doubt as to what the epithets might refer in early records.

TFTaDMSSoCAR H. lactea Milky Bonnet in woods chiefly amongst pine litter but much confused with similar, white species. Recent records from litter under conifers Forth (Lothians ) and Clyde ( Chatelherault and Falls of Clyde as H. delicatella) and Mull. H. lactella is now considered a synonym but collections named such are recorded from Moray (Rothiemurchus in Juniperus communis litter, 18 ix 1995; Abernethy, 13 ix 1987; Loch an Eilean, 8 ix 1960), Tweed (Dawyck, 23 x 1957). In Stevenson from all Watersheds except Solway, Argylle and Sutherland. Also as cf. lactella in pot of Oxyspora yunnanensis (Melastomataceae) Forth (RBGdn., Edinb. 12 vii 1962). Recently described as new; Holotype from Freshfield, Lancs. in E = f. lactella known Moray (Glenmore Forest Pk., on leafy litter under Pinus, 22 viii 2005).

TFTaDMSSoCAR O. mucida Porcelain Fungus Common on fallen branches of Fagus, standing trees, shanks and trunks; single record from Tweed on Betula, Dawyck 14 ix 2001. Often very small, easily overlooked basidiomes found on very small twigs amongst leaf litter. Probably a wound parasite and known to fruit high up in the canopy and then found on forest floor after storms. Sometimes in enormous numbers of basidiomes on fallen branches e.g. Autumn 2009. Recorded from Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Tweed (especially Dawyck, 6 ix 1982 thru’ 7 x 1993), Forth (incl. Edinburgh where it is a local BAP species; Binning Wd. and Tyninghame, ix 1994, East Lothian): Sutherland (Tongue Dennis, 1955), Tay (incl. Kindrogan , Birks of Aberfeldy, 27 viii 1976; Birnham; Balmerino Abbey, Fife, 7 x 1990; Garth, 28 ix 1961), Dee (include. Moneymusk , 12 ix 1972), Clyde ( Corehouse, Falls of Clyde, 12 x 1974; Chatelherault, Blantyre etc.) and Argyle (Younger Bot. Gdn, Dunoon, 30 x 1971). Also known from Arran, Lewis, Skye, Mull, Colonsay, Islay and Jura in Hebrides and known from Orkney. A remarkable collection on drift wood Menie Dunes, 4 xi 2006. Recorded as Ag.(Armillaria) mucidus in Stevenson from Forth, Tay, Dee, Moray & Clyde.

Records from Clyde (Chatelherault and Falls of Clyde), Tay (Murthley Est., on Abies cone, 22 v 2003; Blair Atholl, on Pseudotsuga cone, 20 v 2003; Struan Spruce Wd., on Picea cone, 19 v 2003; Kindrogan, buried Picea cone, 18 v 2003; Glamis Sept. 19th, Cobb Wd., Dunning, Mid-Perth: 31 I 1989, Inver, Bridge of Earn), Ross (Shieldag & Applecross, Dennis, 1948), Solway (Castle Kennedy), Moray (Loch an Eilean, 28 viii 1955, Kincraig: 7 ix 1963) and Tweed (Broughton, 29 ix 1959) and Forth (Largo, 26 viii 1939). Recorded from all Water-sheds in Stevenson except Sutherland, Solway, Argyle and W. Ross. But these records may contain the commoner S. stephaocystis q.v. Three collections in E labelled f. abietis Oct.-April but with no further details. Third collection with Collybia in brackets but not localised. Agaricus spinipes Sow. ex Pers. recorded from Blackadder by Johnston is preserved in K. It is referrable here and indeed Klotzsch had changed it to Ag. esculentus; see Reid & Austwick.

Known from Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 23 v 2005; Blair Atholl, 20 v 2003), Dee (Inverery, 19 v 2003), Forth (Edinburgh 14 i 1960), Tay (Rannoch; Glen Doick; Kincardine 1 vi.), Moray (Rothiemurchus & Glen Affric). Known from Skye and Rhum.
TFTaDMSSoCAR S. tenacellus Pinecone Cap On Pinus cones Recorded from Clyde (Chatelherault) and Forth (Edinburgh, Yellow Craig, Carberry Tower; Roslin, Doune Ponds, nr. Stirling; Kirkcaldy & Knockhill Fife), Tay (Blair Atholl, 20 v 2003; Rannoch) and Dee (Mar Lodge and Inverery, 19 v 2003). Also known from Mull, Islay and Arran (Brodick Castle).The records are all within the period April and July, some material needs to be reassessed to distinguish it from S. stephanocystis ; collections for late in the year see S. esculentus. Recorded for the same areas as for S. esculentus under this epithet in Stevenson may include other species of Strobilurus. In Add 4 var. stolonidferus from Tay (Glamis & Perth) is separated but the length of the pseudorhiza is not significant

Gdn., Edinburgh from 18 iv 1961 thru’ 1 v 1971 but now rarely seen with replacement of fern debris by environmentally friendly substrate, although one in rhizome and chip mulch 1 iv 1981. Also Records with Cupressus funebris, 14 viii 1970 & Davallia solida (Polypodiaceae), presumably on rhizomes and with Lycopodium 2 vii 1963. Known as M. osmundicola under which name it occurs in E.

Cochard; Kirkcaldy, 2 vii 1978), Tay (Dall, Rannoch, 21 x 1966; Black Craig Wd., nr. Blairgowrie; Black Wd., Rannoch, on soil, 21 v 2003; Kindrogan 18 v 2003), Sutherland (Tongue, Dennis, 1955), Dee (Mar Lodge, 19 v 2003; Cairnwell, 25 viii 1970) and several sites in planted areas in Shetland, Stromness, Orkney, St. Kilda, Mull and Rhum. Recorded in Stevenson as Ag. amictus only from Glamis (Tay ) but as Ag. iris Berk. recorded from conifer debris in Tay, Tweed and Moray now considered at most a variety. Records under Ag. marginellus Pers., a poorly known species and in some concepts (e.g. Rea), a synonym of M. amicta noted in Stevenson from similar habitats in Tay and Dee. possibly belong here judging from the Illustration in Cooke Plate 1148 (957).
A collection recorded from Tay (Black Craig Wd., nr. Blairgowrie, 21 viii 1966 as M. cyanorhiza) is a particularly green-blue stemmed form of the above species.

TFTaDMSDSoCAR M. fusconigra Recently described from Somerset but subsequently found in Moray (Abernethy, 16 ix 1992). This is the M. atrocyanea of the New Check List and M. nigrescens of Geesteranus et al. described in 1997. For some reason the Basido. Also known from St. Kilda, Harris, Burra, Rhum, Skye, Islay and Ulva; also several localities on Shetland and on Orkney. Surprisingly only recorded from Glamis (Tay) by Stevenson. TFTaDMSSoCAR M. polygramma Grooved Bonnet Widespread but probably not as common as M. galericulata. Recent record from Moray (Loch an Eilean, 22 viii 2005), Tweed (Dawyck) and Clyde (Inchcailloch, Loch Lomond 25 x 1979 & several sites in MId-Clyde Valley). Recorded from Arran. Old Greville collection from Carlowie labelled ‘Autumn 1821’ in E. Known from all but Argylle and Sutherland in Stevenson and confirmed there for Tweed, Forth, Tay and Clyde. A record of Ag. excisus from Hunters Hill, Glamis (Tay) may belong here; otherwise it is difficult to interpret the name.

Recent records from Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 22 x 1966; Loch Rannoch, 4 xi 1967), Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Ross (Beinn Eighe, 27 ix 1955; Kishorn, 27 vii 1959) and Moray (Rothiemurchus nr. Aviemore 10 ix 1957 & 27 viii 1960; Braeriach amongst Arctostaphylos uva-ursi 14 ix 1957; Uath Lochan, on conifer debris, 24 viii 2005). Often misidentified under the name M. atromarginata. records under this name are from Moray (Tomich, 6 ix 1965). In Stevenson for Forth, Tay, Moray and Ross; in Add 8 from Solway.
Var. fusco-purpureus from Mull is probably only a darker form and is not the same as Ag. fuscomarginata Karsten (= purpureofusca Peck).;
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. silvae-nigrae In mossy litter on wood or on very decayed conifer wood. Until recently named M. alcalina and because of this records are confused. Recent records from Dee (Inverey, 19 v 2003), Tay (Kindrogan on Pseudotsuga and Pinus , 18 v 2003; Inverey, nr. Braemar, on litter of Pinus sylvestris, 19 v 2003; Murthley est., 22 v 2003; Black Wd., Rannoch, on old log, 21 v 2003) and Moray (Rothiemurchus, 13 vi 1970 as M. alcalina; Loch an Eilean, 28 v 1960, as M. alcalina). A collection from Tay (Rannoch, 25 v 1967) was typfied by 2-spored basidia.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. stipitata On conifer stumps; probably better known as M. alcalina. Common. Recorded from all but Tweed, Sutherland; Argylle (Dorlin Dennis 1951). This recently described species can be confirmed from Tweed (Dawyck) but also known from Moray (Abernethy, 25 viii 2005; Granton on Spey, 26 viii 2005; as M. ammoniaca, Aviemore, ix 1938.), Tay, Forth and Clyde. Also known from Skye , Eigg, Rhum and Mull, Berstane and Binscarth, Orkney and single collection from Kergord, Shetland. As M. alcalina on logs from Sutherland (Tongue Dennis 1955) and Argylle (Dorlin, Dennis, 1951). An old specimen from Greville’s Herb. labelled ‘Agaricus congregatus With. Carlowie Autumn’ in E is referrable here.

Known from Harris, Skye, Eigg, Rhum and Mull, Islay; also several sites on both Orkney and Shetland. Often recorded under the name M. iodiolens, e.g.Orkney, Hobbister, 14 viii 1989 & 24 x 1990 or as M. sepia recorded on woody debris Clyde (L. Nethan), Skye and and Segal, Hoy and Binscarth & St Ola, Orkney have been indicated to belong here. Another name used in texts following Singer has been M. amygdalina under which name it has been recorded from Coire Odhar, Shetland, 3 ix 1983. The so –called var. pumila is recorded from Arran. Cochard; Dalmahoy, 29 ix 2973), Dee (Morrone Wd., Braemar, 24 ix 1979), Sutherland (on birch Tongue Dennis, 1955), Moray (Glen Affric, 29 viii 1957; Loch an Eilean, Insh Marshes, Creag Dubh, & Crai Far-leitre 22-23 viii 2005), Solway (Castle Kennedy, 23 v 1986) and Clyde (several sites in Mid-Clyde Valley). Also known from more exotic woods, e.g. RB.Gdn., Edinb.,on Robinia 19 i 1981 and Borders ? on Prunus lusitanica 26 x ? and Ross (Gairloch, on Rhododendron or Forsythia, 11 xi 1977). Also known from Arran, Skye, Islay, Rhum and Mull and from Solway (Kintyre; Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), and two sites on Orkney. Known from Sutherland (Loch Laxford, Dennis 1955; Borgie Forest, Bettyhill, 23 ix 1984; Strathnaver Res. with Dryas octopetala, 22 & 24 ix 1974), Dee (Ghlas Maol, 914m., 28 ix 1962; Cairnwell, 18 ix 1979), Argylle (Salen, Dennis 1951), Moray (Tomich, 28 viii 1957; Aviemore ix 1938 det. A.A.Pearson; Glenmore Forest Pk., Uath Lochan, Creag Dubh, Loch an Eieland, Abernethy, Upper Tullochgruie, 20-25 viii 2005), Tweed (Dawyck), Forth (Saltoun Wdf. East lothian, 30 ix 2006, H. Cochard; RBGdn.,Edinb., 3 x 1957; Thruipmuir nr. Edinburgh, 4 x 1957), Tay (Kindrogan, 19 viii 1972) and Clyde (Mid-Clyde Valley); St.Kilda, Skye, Mull, Rhum and Colonsay, Hoy, S. Ronaldsay Mainland, Orkney, Fair Is, Foula, Fetlar and Mainland, Shetland. Recorded from all Water-sheds in Stevenson except Sutherland. Records as M. pelliculosa are probably referrable here as there is little distinction from the type variety. Noted under the latter name from Sutherland (Borgie Forest nr. Bettyhill, 22 ix 1984), Tweed (Dawyck, 25 ix 2000), Tay (Black Wd., 29 viii 1954 & Dall, 11 xi 1972 both Rannoch; Black Craig Wd., nr. Blairgowrie, 6 x 1965; Glen Shee, 7 ix 1975) and Moray (Rothiemurchus ix 1960). It is noted on the ground in mixed woods in Stevenson and recorded from Tweed, Forth, Tay, Moray and Clyde. M. viscosa is considerred to belong here also; record from Tay (Tentsmuir, 4 xi 1965) and Sutherland (Borgie Forest Dennis, 1955). The last collection is considerd to be M. pelliculosa s. Cke. which the Check List authors (Emmett ?) consider different to the traditional ‘pelliculosa’.

TFTaDMSSoCAR M. erubescens On bark of deciduous trees amongst moss, Forth (Keith Water, East Lothian, 29 x 2006, H. Cochard), Solway (Glen Cairn, Caitloch Hse., 11 x 2000), Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 9 x 1980) and Argylle (Ardtornish, on mossy Sycamore bole, 7 xi 2009).
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. galopus Milking Bonnet Exceedingly common and widespread amongst leaf-litter in mixed, frondose and coniferous woods . Records from Argylle (Salen, Dennis, 1951), Ross (Applecross, Dennis, 1948), Moray (Abernethy, 25 viii 2005; Loch an Eilean, 22 viii 2005), Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Clyde (several sites in Mid-Clyde), Forth (Peaston, East Lothian, 30 ix 2006, H. Cochard) and Tweed (Dawyck). Now known from Arran, Lewis, Skye, Rhum, Mull, Colonsay and St Ola, Orkney, Kergord Mainland and Lusetter, Yell in Shetland. Recorded in Stevenson from all but Dee, Sutherland, Solway and Argylle; Solway added in Add 8.
Var. candida (= M. annae) Recorded under Fagus at Chatelherault, and Falls of Clyde (Clyde), Arran, Lewis and Forth. A dark form (var. nigra) is better known as M. leucogala; see below.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. haematopus Burgundydrop Bonnet On old stumps and trunks, especially Quercus; widespread. Known also from Forth (Auchinmuir Hse., Fife, 29 vii 1978; Saltoun Wd., 7 x 2006, H. Cochard) and sites in Mid-Clyde Valley – Clyde, Tweed (Dawyck, 30 ix 2001 & 26 viii 2009), Sutherland (on Alnus, Tongue Dennis, 1955), Argyle (Ballachuan, on Corylus, 18 x 2001), Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Moray (Creag Dubh, on Betula, 23 viii 2005; Tomich, on Betula, 10 ix 1967 and Tay (Loch Rannoch, 27 viii 1954) . Known from Lewis, Barra, Skye, Rhum, Eigg, Mull, Colonsay, and Binscarth and Berstane, Orkney and Segal Hoy on Betula but not recorded from Shetland. Recorded from Tay, Moray and Clyde in Stevenson. In Stevenson records of Ag. cruentus also apply here extending his range to Dee.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. leucogala on moors and in woodlands; widepsread, often close to burnt Calluna. Recorded from several sites in Mid-Clyde Valley (Clyde), Forth (Lothians), Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Sutherland (Loch Eriboll, 24 ix 1984), Tay (Black Craig Wd., nr. Blairgowrie, 6 x1975). Known from St Kilda, Skye, Mull, Rhum and fromYell (Ronas Hill) and Mainland, Shetland and N.Hoy, Birsay and Sanday on Orkney. Records of M. pullata in Stevenson probably refer here - recorded from Forth.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. sanguinolenta Widespread in distribution amongst Calluna. Many records from Mid-Clyde Valley - Clyde and known from Solway (Knapdale, 13 viii 1975; Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Ross (Applecross, Dennis 1948), Sutherland (Borgie Forest nr. Bettythill, 23 ix 1984; Tongue, Dennis, 1955), Moray (Abernethy, Uath Lochan, Upper Tullochgruie, Coylum Bridge, Loch an Eilean, Insh Marshes, Glenmore Forest Pk., Curr Wd., Glenmore Forest Pk., 20 –26 viii 2005), Forth (Raith, Fife, x 1938; Pathhead, 4 x 2006, H. Cochard), Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, 21 v 2003) and Tweed (Dawyck). Recorded from Arran, St. Kilda, Lewis, Skye, Rhum, Eigg and Mull, Mainland, Hoy and Rousay on Ornkney and Fetlar, Foula, Yell etc in Shetland. In Stevenson noted from Forth, Tay and Clyde; Solway added in Add 8. Host to Spinellus fusiger Shetland (Kergord, 20 x 1984) and Orkney.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. acicula Orange Bonnet No where common; amongst moss in leaf and pine litter but easily overlooked. Recorded from Clyde (Chatelherault & L. Nethan) and from Forth (Prestonhall, 29 ix 2001), Skye, Islay and Mull and recorded from Mainland, Rousay and Shapinsay, Orkney and Fetlar, Shetland. In Stevenson only from known from Glamis (Tay); in Add 1 noted from Moray.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. adonis Scarlet Bonnet Uncommon. Mull in Sphagnum and leaf litter; also Arran.
Var. coccinea which differs in the stronger coloured pileus is recorded rarely from Scotland and only known from Mull on fallen twigs.
Var. floridula is a rose-coloured form and is recorded from Forth (Bavelaw, 9 x 1960; Selmuir, 7 x 1960), Moray (Abernethy, 4 ix 1994 & 25 ix 1982) and Tay (Murthly, 5 x 1956) Material from Moray (Rothiemurchus, ix 1938) and Klotzsch specimens from Penimure Oct. 1830 in E.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. flavoalba Ivory Bonnet In grassland and on lawns. Recorded from Forth (Hope Reservoir, nr. Gifford 23 ix 2006, Saltoun Fortest, 7 x 2006 & Keith Water, 29 x 2006 all East Lothian, H. Cochard), Solway (Glen Cairn, 1 x 2000), Ross (Applecross, Dennis 1948), Tay (Struan, 27 ix 1982; Loch Rannoch, 27 viii 1954), Sutherland (Strathnaver Dennis, 1955), Moray (Loch an Eilean, 22 viii 2005; Tomich, 27 viii 1957) and several localities in Mid-Clyde Valley - Clyde,. Known from St.Kilda, Syke, Mull and Rhum, and wet grassland Fetlar, Shetland. Recorded in Stevenson from Tay and Moray. Ag.(Mycena) luteoalbus added to the Scottish Mycota by Stevenson based on collection from Tay (Glamis) in Add. 5 belongs here.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. rosella Pink Bonnet Recent records from Tay (Kindrogan, 28 viii 1985) and Moray (Glen Einich, 10 ix 1957; Abernethy, ix 1938. In Stevenson recorded from Tay, Dee, Moray, Clyde and Ross; in Add 4 recorded from Altyre by Rev. J. Keith - Moray, as Ag. (Mycena) strobilinus and as Ag.( Mycena) strobilinus on Scots’ pine debris Edinburgh (Forth) by Greville. Record of Ag (Collybia) clavus by Greville from Forth is more likely to be this fungus as Cke. 209 (147) is partly referrable here; the other part of the plate under the same name depicts M. adonis q.v.

TFTaDMSSoCAR M. hiemalis Known from mossy logs etc. several sites in Clyde (Mid-Clyde Valley), Argyll (Ardtornish, on mossy Sycamore bole, 7 xi 2009), Sutherland (on mossy bark of Salix atrocinerea, Borgie Bridge & Loch More Dennis, 1955), Tweed (Dawyck, base of mossy Quercus trunk, 23 xi 2009), Forth (in pot of Dendrobium aphrodites, RBGdn., Edinb., viii 1962), Arran, Mull and Kintyre (Solway) and on Acer pseudoplatanus, Binscarth, Orkney and. Recorded in Stevenson as M. corticola for several sites except Sutherland and Clyde but it is dfficult to ascertain to what these records refer as there has been confusion in identity with M. melligena and M. pseudocoticola q.v. Only known previously from Whiterow (Moray) collected by Rev. Keith.
TFTaDMSSoCAR M. speirea Common on small pieces of wood, leaf petioles etc.; widespread. Records from several sites in Mid-Clyde Valley - Clyde, Moray ( Glen Affric, 27 ix 1985; Aviemore, 14 ix 1951), Tay (Kindrogan with Blasia pusilla, ix 1968), Forth (Hermitage of Braids, Edinb., 12 x 1971; Bawsinch, Edinb.,4 viii 2002;Humbie Wd., East Lothian, 10 x 2006, H. Cochard); Solway (Newton Stweart, 28 v 1986) and Tweed (Hirsel 16 viii 1986). Also Rhum ( 0n ? Sorbus), Skye, Islay, St Ola and Binscarth, Orkney. Apparently unknown to Stevenson except for Tay - no locality but in Add 1 noted from Moray.
Mycena alutacea n.p. A provisional taxa resides in E from Moray (Abernethy, 1 ix 1972).
TFTaDMSSoCAR R. saccharifera On dead Calluna but more frequent on grasses and herbaceous material. Records from Forth (Saltoun Wd., East lothian, 30 ix 2006, H. Cochard), Tay (Kindrogan, on grass leaves, 18 v 2003 & on Juncus, 20 v 2003; Hermitage., on Juncus, 19 v 2003) and Moray (Culbin Forest, on Juncus, 18 ix 1999), St Kilda, Harris, Skye, Rhum and Mull. Also known as Mycena pudica and Omphalia quisquillaris.
TFTaDMSSoCAR R. rorida Dripping Bonnet Widespread but not common. Recorded from Moray (Cairngorms, 26 ix 1990; Loch an Eilean, Rothiemurchus, 18 ix 1995 & amongst Calluna, 22 viii 2005), Forth (Saltoun Wd., East Lothian 7 x 2006, H. Cochard) and Clyde (Falls of Clyde), Tay (Black Wd., Rannoch, on Vaccinium roots, 21 v 2003) and Tweed (Dawyck, 2 xi 2000). Known from St Kilda, Skye and Mull, and three sites on N. Hoy, Orkney. Not in Shetland. Only recorded from Forth and Tay in Stevenson.
Ag. atroalbus. Recorded as amongst moss in mixed woods and from half the known Water-sheds in Stevenson but identity not known and considered by Maas Geesteranus ( ) as possibly entolomataceous.
Ag. atrocyaneus Rannoch (Buchanan White) in Stevenson: otherwise not known from elsewhere in Scotland. Although Cooke’s plate depicts a species of Mycena it is believed that the original description refers to a species of the Entolomataceae.
Ag. collariatus Recorded from Glamis (Tay) in Stevenson but identity uncertain. Details in the desciptions change between the original account and later ones. The latter is probably Marasmius rotula, the former probably M. metata.
Ag. dissiliens Recorded on trunks fromTay, Dee and Moray in Stevenson but identity unknown.
Ag. parabolicus Too many interpretations of this eptithet to be definitive and could possibly not even be a Mycena. A collection in E from Balerno, Edinburgh 11 x 1959 needs examination.
Ag. peltata Single collection in Stevenson from Altyre (Moray) but identity unknown; might possibly be entolomataceous. or some records refer to M. latifolia
Ag. plicosus Found on forest floor at Killin (Tay) according to Stevenson but British material is ill-defined. Doubtful whether it is even a Mycena.
Ag. proliferus Recorded in Stevenson from Glamis (Tay) but is possibly a Psathyrella, whilst suggestions it is M. inclinata.
Ag. tenuis In shady moist wood at Glamis (Tay) according to Stevenson but species not clearly defined and possibly referrable to Hemimycena. There is a Menzies collection so-labelled in E. To check.
Ag. tintinabulus In dense clusters of stumps in mixed wood. Recorded from Hunters Hill. Glamis in Stevenson, but no recent records. Apparently the epithet not used in the original sense.
