TASK 9: : TEACHING IN A DIGITAL WORLD.
FIVE MAIN CONCEPTS:
INFOGRAPHY: is a visual representation that contains information about a specific topic, in which you can add images, icons, gifs, texts, arrows, any element you can think of. These visual representations are often created by me and my group, thanks to the Canva application with which we usually work for all kinds of jobs. The infographics are made using computer procedures. They are often made to capture the reader's attention, as they are very attractive to the eye, or we try to make them so.
TPACK: stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge which studies the integration of technology in education. We saw this concept in assignment 1 of our course and also in this one, number 9. This process requires teachers to adapt to technological change and work on these competences in order to, in combination with their pedagogical, disciplinary and content knowledge, achieve an educational environment that effectively integrates ICT. More and more schools are implementing various technological tools to incorporate them into their students' learning. It is the core of the teacher's digital competence as a content expert.
PLE: stands for Personal Learning Environments, is the set of resources, tools and people with whom we learn, exchange and share information and experiences. One of the activities we did was to do one with our work group, in which we talked about the different tools, where we used them, how and above all if it conditioned where we used them, with how the procedure of using them was.
DBR:means Design-Based Research, this is a type of research that is oriented towards educational innovation whose fundamental characteristic consists of the introduction of a new element to transform a situation. This type of research tries to respond to problems detected in the educational reality by resorting to scientific theories or available models in order to propose possible solutions to these problems.
DIGITAL COMPETENCES: Digital competence needs to be acquired by teachers, so that they can creatively, critically and confidently use information and communication technologies (ICT) to achieve goals related to work, employability, learning, use of leisure time, inclusion and participation in society.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR TEACHERS TO HAVE THESE DIGITAL COMPETENCES IN THE CLASSROOM?
Today we live in a world that is rapidly becoming digitalised and advancing in new technologies, children spend more time on their mobiles than with their own friends and even family, they spend more time playing video games than studying. It is therefore important that teachers incorporate in their training process the knowledge and use of Information and Communication Technologies. We must teach, help and protect our children that these digital skills are what help us to understand the world in which we live, prepare us to function better in this digital environment and provide us with a greater capacity for adaptation. We live surrounded by technology, but few people actually apply the full potential of these tools. Therefore, teachers must be prepared to make use of these competences and teach with new methods, obtaining new, different and potential results. The teacher must also take into account not only the cognitive characteristics of the student but also his expectations, his previous knowledge or his motivations and thus develop a favourable climate so that the student is not only a participant but also the main actor of his own learning.
In recent years, ICT have been introduced at different educational levels and computer equipment and classrooms have been extended and modernised, and different support applications have been created, for example in the pandemic, many tools were used so that both teachers and students could communicate and students could be evaluated.
Finally, in our opinion, the use of these new technologies in the field of education will have a positive impact on students, providing them with motivation and interactivity, not to mention this new way of learning in a diversity of teaching support resources, which is not only being implemented in primary school but also in other educational levels.
