TASK 7 : JOURNALIST
TASK 7 : JOURNALIST
This week we faced probably one of the most complicated and difficult tasks of all the ones we have had to do so far. The task consisted in the realization of a podcast that had to pick up a key concept "the use of programming in the classroom". Would it be able to educate future generations in such a way that they would be much more prepared than with traditional methods?
In this podcast we tried to solve the doubts about the use of programming in the classroom. Therefore, all the participants of the group decided to go to the Hour Of Code page to test numerous programming games and see if they were somehow able to adapt to the different standards needed depending on the age of the individual.
We decided to choose 3 different games and relate our own experience, what the functionality of the game was like, if the children would be able to play them and if they could learn anything from them.
Once we knew what the program consisted of and how it could be used, another problem arose. We had never done a podcast before, we didn't know how to structure it so that we could express all our thoughts and capture the reader's attention. So all the members decided to get down to work and look for information on how to make a podcast.
Once we had all the previous knowledge we decided to start structuring the parts that would make up the podcast. We wanted to include an interview with the star of the puzzle team, Jorge Martinez, whose experience would provide much more knowledge about it, along with the personal experiences of the collaborators and a reflection/criticism about programming in educational use. We had to find a program that would allow us to record all the ideas we had in mind. After a lot of searching we found the program Soundtrap which allowed us to record all the audio parts and be able to play with them. We also decided to look for music on youtube that would make the podcast more attractive and not sound so monotonous. After several days of work and numerous audio tests we were able to make a podcast that expressed all our thoughts about the topic we formulated at the beginning.
We thought that the task was finished, but of course we realized that we needed to find a way to get our podcast to reach a larger number of listeners and thus be able to share our thoughts. That is why we decided to look for a music playback platform. We thought of using the best known in the world: Spotify.
At first we did not know how we could publish on this platform and if this would cost us extra expenses so we decided to investigate.
Finally, we managed to find a website called Anchor which allowed us to publish our podcast on Spotify. This website gave us the option to put a cover to the podcast and we thought it would be a good idea to give it that distinctive touch that would make our podcast unique. To make that cover we used the canva application which allowed us to make a cover where the participants of the podcast appeared and add effects and graphic figures.
Finally, after a long time of work we were able to make what we know today as COCOPODCAST
