ANALYST ROLE : TASK 5 ETHICS
With this activity, we have realized how many educational tools we have at our disposal, which we can apply in our classes. We have also been able to analyze the pros and cons offered by each one, so we can know which one is best suited to each type of class or student.
A rubric, used in the field of education is defined as an "assessment matrix in which criteria and competency indicators are established through the use of scales to determine the quality of student performance. It provides an approximate measure of both the product and the process of learning, as well as the student" (Center for Academic Excellence).
In other words, a way to evaluate beyond the mere fact of awarding an overall assessment to a work, exam or performance. In this particular case we evaluated applications / tools that we have used during the development of the tasks in this term, which makes us realize which of them were adaptable to our classes in the future. The rubrics offer a vision beyond what we are commonly used to. Perhaps when people choose any tool, whether in the school environment or not, we only look at its functionality, that is, we look at whether it is easy to use and we do not value thousands of other aspects that may be of crucial importance. However, when we use these in the school environment and also with children, it forces us in a certain way to look at aspects that the majority of the population would not. This is because in a certain way in addition to learning we also have responsibilities such as the privacy of the child.
In line with what we are saying, this rubric is very complete, which can be used to evaluate almost any aspect in a very concrete way. With it we have been able to evaluate aspects such as: functionality, accessibility, mobile usage, data privacy, social and cognitive presence, etc....
Subsequently we have developed our own way of evaluating, based on our impressions/opinions and the information we had acquired through the rubric. In this way we could emphasize those aspects to which we assign greater importance (in this particular case when choosing an academic tool).
In conclusion, in our opinion this task is one of the most important that we have developed so far. This is because it has given us a problem that we will probably have in the future
What tool do I use with my students for the development of the task?
And most importantly, it has made us find the solution to this problem. Rubrics are a great way to evaluate. Nowadays for the correction of exams in the institutes the standards are used, which is very similar to what was done in this task. We are sure that these new ways of evaluation help in the search for a much more complete evaluation than the one we have today.
