ANALYST ROLE : TASK 8 PLE
ANALYST ROLE : TASK 8 PLE
Times are changing very fast and technologies, tools and services are constantly emerging that open up a world of communication and learning possibilities that allow us to access information and knowledge in a personalized way, adapted to our concerns, knowledge and needs, improving the possibilities of access to content. This situation of overabundance of possibilities, which may seem chaotic or even unapproachable, should not prevent us from becoming aware of what our personal learning environments (PLE) are.
This task was related to the fifth task (Ethics), we should make a group PLE digrama of the tools we had used during the whole term in order to compare them to see if the environment in which we used them was important and above all to know the opinion of our classmates and understand the different uses that can be given to the same tool.
As we are going to talk a lot about this term, it would be good first to know what we are talking about when we refer to the PLE. Searching for information about it I found one of the best definitions to understand this complex concept: "Personal Learning Environments are systems that help students to take control and manage their own learning. This includes supporting learners to set their own learning goals, manage their learning, manage content and processes, communicate with others in the learning process and achieve learning objectives".
This task shows us the true usefulness of knowing how to create our own PLE and above all how to do it using the multiple types of diagrams that exist. They are very useful because they help us to synthesize and understand in a simpler way the information of a specific topic. At the same time, they make it easier for us to express the information that we want to reach others.
The learning process of the human being is an eternal process, that is to say, we are always learning even if this learning is an informal learning since everything helps the process. In order to acquire this information it is important that we can develop spaces where we feel comfortable so that we can learn in a much more effective way. The leap in information, communication, etc. between the previous generation and ours is abysmal. Today we are continuously receiving information from thousands of different places. That is why it is so important to create a personal learning space, where we can select more specifically the information we want to store. " It is a way to understand how to learn " ( Adell) . The learning process becomes completely dependent on the individual who can do and undo as he likes, he can choose the environment in which he wants to learn, the medium he wants to use, the content he wants to store. By giving that importance to the subject in the process makes the child learn the way they really want to learn.
Unfortunately nowadays most people do not want to learn, and this is not because they do not like to learn but because they do not feel comfortable because society has predisposed them to learn in a way they do not like. Fortunately today we have thousands of different ways to learn, numerous tools to use and all for free thanks to the technological progress we have experienced in recent years. That is why we as future teachers have to be able to teach children the infinite possibilities they have when it comes to learning, that they do not stick to what society dictates, but that they are free to learn.
"Everyone already has a PLE - they've always existed!" (Jordi Adell)
