ANALYST ROLE :
Nowadays new technologies offer us a wide range of learning possibilities. The way of teaching does not have to be the same for everyone. We do not have to learn only from books but we can learn from other sources, more entertaining sources that make the learning process more enjoyable.
Learning is a personal process, i.e. it depends on the person. If the person does not want to learn, learning will not come by magic. That is why we teachers must try to make children feel comfortable and want to learn, otherwise our work will never be carried out.
Children from an early age show a certain attraction for science fiction characters, they see all the superhero movies, watch cartoons etc.. In other words, all these characters are familiar to them. We could use this to explain a difficult concept and make it easier for them to learn. And on top of that to encourage reading, which is a habit that is slowly dying out in the new generations.
From the idea of all this, the task of MODERN COMICS was born.
I know that at this point you are wondering the same as I did before starting this task. Can we really learn to use comics in the classroom?
First we have to see how the mind acts in the learning process. The mind when we are learning / studying or doing any activity does not focus equally in all the sections but it focuses more on those different concepts or those more creative sheets. That is why it is recommended that children use highlighters, titles and even images to help focus the mind on what is really important.
This is a reality, images are very useful, not only to focus the mind but also to understand the concept. It usually happens that depending on who explains or who has written the topic, the concepts are better or worse explained. On the other hand, when we have a visual reference such as an image, it facilitates the learning process.
The lack of use of this type of resources I think goes beyond the belief that they are useless. I think that many teachers, especially old school teachers, think that using such resources, labeled as "more childish" may discredit them and so they stick to less creative resources. However, according to the University of Illinois, Batman or Superman style cartoons are recognized with the same prestige as any other work of art.
It is time to leave prejudices behind and use all possible tools in order to develop the best possible education. Not everything in the world is black or white, we do not have to use the same as our predecessors have used. We can take advantage of this technological future to create a better education. A truly child-centered education. An education that also looks at their tastes and tries to implement them in favor of the child.
INDIVIDUAL SCORES AND NOTES
In general terms, the work has taught us several concepts which we will be able to apply in the future as teachers. What we didn't like the most about this job was the freedom we had, unlike other jobs. In this job we were the ones who directed and carried out the work in our own way, which makes us see if we are qualified or if we should improve in this aspect. Perhaps the negative point or rather the difficulty that the work showed is included in that freedom. We are not used to being able to do and undo our own way so at the beginning of the work we were a little lost and did not even know where to start.
