Personally, this task has been the most funny that we have realized until now. Creating a game with my friends has been a really great experience because, although it is not very easy to develop an educative and entertaining game for children, having the possibility to create something useful for them by ourselves is amazing.
The best part of this activity has been playing our game in order to improve and to perfect it, but also on Wednesday when we have played the games that the other groups have created. As the teacher has said, all the games have been really well design and adapted to children, and most of them have been very funny. For example, the potential teacher's game was very funny because it has a lot of games inside the principal game and it is very helpful for children to express their emotions. Even so, it has some improvements such as the domino, which was very long.
On the other hand, the worst part of the activity has been to carry out all the different ideas we had in our minds, all the members of the group had a lot of ideas, but it's very difficult to make a functional game making our ideas connect. When you develop an activity you have to take into account the epistemic design, the set desing and the social design, and in the creation of this game we have had to decided the people who is going to play it, the place, the materials and the content, which is essential because children must learn something.
In the article "The Surprising Benefits Your Kids Get From Playing Board Games" by Megan Zander, we can see that boardgames can get older kids' brain buzzing, they offer opportunities for early learning, they boost their language skills, they are a great way to unplug, they show kids how to be a good loser, they shoote anxiety...
The best moment of the group has been when we have played the game and it has been really good but it needed somethings to improve, in that moment we have realised that our work was going very well. We did the game by mixing our beliefs and ideas, that's why we are very proud of it. However, it has been very complex to find all the material we wanted and to agree on who would be the person responsible for buying the material. In all the task there are people who work more and people who work less, but we try to divide the work in a good way so that we complement each other and the whole group is involved in the task. I am the analyst and I have been awared of how my group has felt when realizing the work, we have been very concentrated in this task and, although we have had some difficulties creating all the features of the game and we have had to change the playability of the game with the aid of the teacher, we are very proud of the final result.
I think that the teacher has send us this task because she wants us to develop our creativity and to know that we as teachers have to try to be innovative and to create activities for our children in which they can compete, laugh, smile, express their emotions, learn and have fun. She also wants us to realise that preparing an activity for children is a very dificult task, we have to take into account too many things. Maybe we are doing this task because children in the 21st century spent their time more and more using technology, and boardgames are really entertaining and useful if you want to do something different in the class. A few years ago children created their own games and it was fantastic, so maybe if you bring different games to them they will start developping their own games with their own rules and they will become more creative and skillfull.
This task has been a challenge for us, we have had to organize ourselves efficiently, for this we have used different resources such as whatsapp, google drive and discord, which have helped us share our proposals when making the game. We have had some difficulties to meet, but we have procured to work together in class. This task is also related with other subjects because we have had to investigate in order to take ideas, we have taken into account the diversity of students in education and the ethical problems that our game could have. To sum up, in my opinion all of us have worked very hard in this task, although some people have worked a little bit more and have been more implicated in the work.
