when you are asked to step to serve as a Household Head, Couple Coordinator, or some other "service" in our community -- why me / us?
when someone else gets discerned to take on a certain role -- why him / her / them?
The Great Commission:
And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."
-- Matthew 28:18-20
We are all called to evangelize.
When God chose David to be king of Israel, was he ready?
You can read from 1 Samuel 17 that David was still in his youth when he was anointed to be the future king of Israel.
When Jesus called Peter and the others to be apostles, where they ready? They decided that they were ready when they decided and followed Jesus. It is their "yes" that made them ready.
Reflect on the story of Jeremiah
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
Then I said, "Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth."
But the Lord said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a youth'; for to all to whom I send you you shall go, and whatever I command you you shall speak.
Be not afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord."
-- Jeremiah 1:5-8
Reflect on the story of Gideon (one of the Judges in the Old Testament) when God chose him to lead the Israelites
And the Lord turned to him and said, "Go in this might of yours and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?"
And he said to Him, "Pray, Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family."
And the Lord said to him, "But I will be with you,...
Judges 6:14-16a
Reflect on the exhortation of St Paul
For consider your call, brethren; not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were noble birth;
but God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong,
God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are
so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification and redemption;
therefore, as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast of the Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:26-31
However, this does not mean that we are to go out there to put "everyone else" to shame. This means that we are to go and evangelize and let God's Word work in people's lives.
I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you,
taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts.
Ezekiel 36:26
Be hungry and thirsty for the Lord.
Always desire to be with our God.
Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me they joy of Thy salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Psalm 51:11-12
Trust God.
I am with you always, to the close of the age.
-- Matthew 28:20b
May the Lord bless you and your family
The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you , and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26
For I am the Lord, your God, who grasp your right hand;
It is I who say to you,
Do not fear, I will help you.
Isaiah 41:13
