This Gifts of Healing enables you to heal the body, soul, and/or spirit of another person through the power of God in accordance to His will. You may not be able to heal anyone at any time as you desire.
As with others, this also manifests other Gifts like the Gift of Faith or the Gift of Miracles (or Mighty Deeds).
Physical healing involves healing without the use of medicines. Some may undergo medical treatment but still experience miraculous results -- beyond what science can explain. More importantly, the physical healing may lead to spiritual healing.
Healing of the soul or spirit may involve freedom from bondage of sin or demonic possession, and the experience of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Healing can be emotional, psychological, relational.
Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness,
idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions, occasions of envy,
drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Now those who belong to Christ (Jesus) have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit.
Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, envious of one another.
-- Galatians 5:19-26.
The Gifts of Healing are also to allow the healed to be closer to God; to experience God's Love and Mercy; and to respond in faith and love with thanksgiving and repentance. It may involve a renewal of faith or the total person. The healing may be for one person or a group of people.
St Peter
so that they even carried out the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and pallets, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them. The people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed. -- Acts 5:15-16
St Paul of Tarsus
So extraordinary were the mighty deeds God accomplished at the hands of Paul that when face cloths or aprons that touched his skin were applied to the sick, their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them. (Act 19:11-12)
St. André Bessette, CSC (August 9, 1845 - January 6,1937)
He healed Catholics and even heretics and unbelievers of all kinds.
There are many canes and crutches of those he healed remain in St Joseph's Oratory in Montreal. St André's body is also there.
In 1958, Giuseppe Carlo Audino was healed of his cancer through the intercession of St André. (Wikipedia)
In 1999, a 9-yr old boy had been a victim of an automobile accident, leaving him with a serious cranial injury and putting him in an irreversible coma leading toward death. The prayers of people closest to him along with the intercession of St André brought him back to consciousness and health. (Courtesy of Formed.org - God's Doorkeepr: St André of Montreal)
St John Vianney
He has the gift of reading into hearts; incorruptible body
A father wanted to have his son cured as the son used crutches. St John Vianney “read into his heart” that he wanted to confess his sins. Both were healed – physically and spiritually. The son left his crutches in the church. (http://www.miraclesofthesaints.com/2010/09/saint-miracles.html)
Blessed Margaret of Castello
At her funeral, the crowd was immense. The parish priest planned to bury Margaret in the churchyard, but the mourners insisted that she have a tomb inside the church, alongside the other distinguished dead of Castello. The priest was still arguing the point when a girl, whose legs were crippled, dragged herself to Margaret's coffin. She touched the casket and then stood up and began to walk. The priest gave Margaret a tomb inside the church. (http://www.beliefnet.com/faiths/prayer/2008/09/seven-saints-for-healing-and-comfort.aspx?p=8)
