The Gift of Prophecy is one of the many gifts of the Holy Spirit.
This Gift intends to edify, exhort, comfort, strengthen, and lead people to God.
Edify - instruct or improve (someone) morally or intellectually, to build them up, to comfort them
This includes correction and disclosure of secret sins -- with the purpose to build up, strengthen, and lead someone to God.
Exhort - strongly encourage or urge (someone) to do something, to lift them up.
Exhortation – to encourage someone to worship/praise God
When you have this Gift, you need to study the Scriptures to be able to test any revelation and ensure that it is from God. Allow the Church to test and verify the true message of God.
Everyone has some gift that can be used for the benefit of the community. When the instruction on justification through faith is correctly grasped, the possessor of a gift will understand that it is not an instrument of self-aggrandizement. Possession of a gift is not an index to quality of faith. Rather, the gift is a challenge to faithful use.

Pursue love,
but strive eagerly for the spiritual gifts,
above all that you may prophesy.
1 Corinthians 14:1
More from the Bible
1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 -- "Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophetic utterances. Test everything; retain what is good. Refrain from every kind of evil."
1 Corinthians 14:3 -- "On the other hand, one who prophesies does speak to human beings, for their building up, encouragement, and solace."
1 Corinthians 14:29-31 -- "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others discern. But if a revelation is given to another person sitting there, the first one should be silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged."
Romans 12:6-8 -- "Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith; if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching; if one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness."

Dr Peter Kreeft: “Prophecy is speaking on God's behalf to man. Tongues is speaking on man's behalf to God.”
St Paul of Tarsus
His Letters / Epistles tell us that St Paul has the Gift of Prophecy and other Gifts of the Holy Spirit. He truly shares the great love and mercy of our Lord to the early Churches then as to us today.
To the early Churches in Rome, Corinth, Galatia, Ephesus, Philppi, Colossae, and Thessalonica
To his disciples -- Timothy, Titus, Philemon
To the Jewish Christians (the Hebrews)
Pope Paul VI
In 1968, he wrote Humanae Vitae and warned about the things that will happen if the use of contraception became widespread -- infidelity; moral decline; loss of respect of women; abuse of power; and notion of unlimited power over one's body.
