Embed Your Google Classroom Calendar
On A Sites Page
On A Sites Page
Before embedding, you must ensure the calendar is visible to people outside your classroom (like parents).
Open Google Calendar on your computer.
On the left sidebar, find "My calendars." 3. Hover over your Classroom Name (e.g., 7th Grade Math - Period 1).
Click the three vertical dots (⋮) and select "Settings and sharing."
Scroll down to the "Access permissions for events" section.
Check the box for "Make available to public."
Note: You can choose to show "See all event details" so parents see the assignment names.
Open your Google Site in edit mode.
On the right-hand "Insert" panel, scroll down and click on "Calendar."
A list of all your calendars will appear. Select the one that matches your Google Classroom name.
Click the "Insert" button at the bottom.
Click on the calendar you just inserted on your page.
Click the Gear Icon (Settings) that appears above the calendar.
Choose Your View:
Agenda View: Best for a sidebar or small space; it lists assignments like a "To-Do" list.
Month View: Best for a full-width section to show the "Big Picture" of the month.
Step 4: "Done" and then "Publish" your site to make the changes live.
Reminder:
Google Classroom only puts items on the calendar if they have a Due Date.
If your calendar looks empty, check your assignments in Classroom to ensure deadlines are set!
The Issue: You can see the calendar, but parents or people logged into personal accounts cannot.
The Fix: This is almost always a Permissions issue. Go back to Google Calendar Settings and ensure "Make available to public" is checked.
Tip: If your district has a strict "Internal Only" policy, you may need to ask your IT Dept to "Allow public sharing for Google Calendars."
The Issue: The calendar looks like a blank grid.
The Fix: Check your Due Dates. Google Classroom only pushes an assignment to the calendar if it has a specific date and time attached to it.
If it’s "No Due Date," it stays invisible on the calendar.
The Issue: Teachers accidentally embed their primary calendar (the one with their name) instead of their classroom calendar.
The Fix: In Google Sites, click the calendar and hit the Trash icon. Re-insert it, but this time, specifically look for the calendar named after your Google Classroom. Your personal "Doctor's Appointment" calendar is private and separate!
The Issue: A parent clicks the assignment on the calendar and sees the title, but can't open the PDF instructions.
The Fix: Files attached to assignments in Google Classroom are stored in your Classroom Folder in Drive. You must ensure that the specific file or folder is set to "Anyone with the link can view" if you want parents to open them from the public website.
The Issue: You teach 3 different sections and want them all in one view.
The Fix: Yes! When you go to Insert > Calendar, you can select multiple calendars at once before clicking Insert.
They will appear color-coded in one single calendar view on your site.
