Custom Theme - Your District's Colors and Logos Provided For You
"Brand Kits"
"Brand Kits"
Your school district can create something called a "Brand Kit." The school administration uploads the school/district's logo, the specific school/district colors, and approved fonts for you to use. When you create a Google Sites website, and click on, "Themes," you will see a section called, "Organizational Themes." When you click on "Organizational Themes," your website instantly adopts the school/district's official look, colors, logos, and fonts.
This allows you to adopt the school/district's color scheme without haveing to manually find the correct hex colors. This takes the guesswork out of trying to replicate your school/district's color themes.
Note: This only works if your school/district has a higher version of Google Workspace - "Education Plus," or "Teaching and Learning."
If your district’s IT department has set up a Brand Kit, you can adopt the school’s colors and fonts with one click.
1. Open your Google Site editor.
2. On the right-hand panel, click the Themes tab.
3. Look for a section titled "Organization Themes."
4. Select your school’s theme (e.g., "Niskayuna Central School's Theme").
5. The Result: Your buttons, headers, and accent colors will instantly match the official district branding.
Note: All levels of Google Workspace users can do the manual match. Even if your district supplies a "Brand Kit," you may wish to design your class website with different colors - ones you choose yourself. The following directions help you replicate your school/district's colors if you want to match them.
If you don't see an Organization Theme, follow these steps to manually match your school’s logo using Hex Codes.
Step 1: Get Your Color Code
Get A Tool: Install the ColorPick Eyedropper Chrome extension.
Action: Open your school's website, click the extension, and hover over the logo. It will give you a Hex Code (a 6-digit code starting with #, like #A6192E). Copy that code.
Step 2: Create Your Custom Theme
1. In Google Sites, go to Themes > click the + (Create Theme) button.
2. Add Brand Images: Upload your school logo and a Favicon (the tiny icon in the browser tab).
3. Customize Colors: * Select "Customize colors."
o Click the Paint Bucket icon.
o Paste your Hex Code into the box.
4. Set Your Fonts: If you can, use the same fonts your school/district uses, or choose the "New 2026 Standards" like Inter
(for body) and Google Sans Flex (for headers).
5. Click "Create Theme."
If you don't want to install an extension, Google Sites has a hidden "AI-lite" feature:
Go to Settings (Cog icon) > Brand Images.
Upload your logo.
Below the logo, click "Select a color to use for your theme." * Google will analyze the logo and suggest a palette that matches perfectly!
Whether your district has 'pre-packaged' branding or you’re building it from scratch, the goal is Consistency.
A site that matches your school’s official colors makes your class website feel like a professional extension of your physical one.
You can find the correct "Hex Code" on the WEB and enter it.
