Use this page to download KMZ and KML files in their "original" format.
Then, you can open them in the "classic" Google Earth and the "new" Google Earth WEB.
This page allows you to download files in their "original format."
You can import a KML file directly into Google Earth WEB from the new project menu. The menu allows you to import the file directly from your computer or from your Google Drive. However, if you created a tour using the older version of Google Earth (Google Earth PRO), the tour may look different in the WEB version (plays in a browser). You can always tweak the project after you bring it over to the newer verson.
You can also create a KML tour in Google Earth WEB.
Important to Note:
The "classic" version of Google Earth (Google Earth Pro) is an application that needs to be installed. It cannot run in a browser.
The "new" WEB version of Google Earth does run in the Chrome Browser, making it also available for Chromebooks and mobile devices. Note: It will also run in Firefox.
There are differences in the two versions.
One of the main differences is that you cannot create tours in the "new" mobile version as yet.
Classic Google Earth (Google Earth Pro) is being discontinued by Google.

For the New Google Earth WEB, use the Chrome Browser and import the kmz or kml into a new project. You can use other browsers
besides Google Chrome. Some browsers may work better than others. Use Chrome for best results.
If you happen to click on a kmz, and it opens in Google Drive, click on the arrow in the top, right to download the kmz.
Then, open it in Google Earth.
