Typical Google Meet in Grid View

Idea for setting up lessons for students using Google Meet, Google Classroom, and other Google tools

Schools can post a "starting page" for students to access. Teachers' names and/or classes can be listed on the page, with links to subpages, which are each teacher's landing page. This gives them a consistent place to go to each day. Plus, general "all school" announcements can be posted on the school start page.

Extensions and Add - Ons

Google Grid View Extension (no longer needed - see note below)

Use this extension in your Chrome Browser to see attendees in the Meet. This allows you to see more than 15 people you see in the built-in "tile view" of Google Meet.
Note: Google has added a grid feature that will allow you to see 49 participants at the same time. (added in fall 2020). Therefore, no need for extra extensions.

Google Meet Nod Extension

This extension allows people in the Meet to send "real time" reactions to the host/presenter. Instead of interrupting the host, attendees use emojis. That way, the attendees can remain muted and not have to unmute themselves to send comments to the host.

Google Meet Attendance Add-on (no longer needed with certain Google Workspace tiers)

Add on takes attendance of the people in the Meet. The results are automatically sent to a Google spreadsheet.  Note: Records attendance when you click the attendance button.

Start or Join A Google Meet From Gmail

You can now start or join a Meet from Gmail. Look for the icons in the sidebar, under the word, "Meet."   Meets can be live video calls, but be sure you check the system requirements.  You also need to "allow" Meet to use your camera and microphone.
