Some of the fingerprint vendors have expressed a willingness to travel to locations to do mass fingerprinting. I believe the requirement is 20 or more people. (It may even be as low as 15). I cannot set this up unfortunately. Providers will have to make these arrangements. The two of which I am aware (FYI Fingerprints and MD Livescan) are not charging much, if any, more than the charge would be if people went to their fingerprinting locations. I have agreed this is a wonderful idea!

Prince George's County school officials have begun reviewing the personnel files of its 13,000 employees to make sure all have criminal background checks completed after police arrested two school employees recently in separate cases. "We are reviewing our procedures and have made some changes," said Howard Burnett, director on Human Resources of county schools. By state law, anyone employed by the Prince George's County Public School system must have a criminal background check done as a condition of employment. Last week, Prince George's County Police arrested two schools' security personnel -- Marcus D. Bickham on child sex abuse charges and Antonio Harley on charges of impersonating an officer, assault and robbery.

Maryland State Police were deluged last year with tens of thousands of firearms applications for which that agency needed to generate background checks. The onslaught of applications was a response to the state’s new gun legislation, which was forged in the wake of the shooting tragedy at Newtown, Conn. The (Baltimore) Sun reported in a recent story that state police were unable to handle the sudden increase, and soon the agency, and the gun-buying public, was facing a backlog of many thousands of background checks. Everyone was frustrated, including the state’s numerous firearms dealers. The really disturbing part of this story, however, is that more than 50,000 guns were released to buyers before their background checks were completed. This is possible because state law permits guns to be distributed after a seven-day waiting period — even if background checks have not been finalized.
