Where has the summer gone? I can't believe it's been over a month since I last wrote. A lot has happened. The chickens have all been processed and delivered for the year. I am SO happy about that. It went well but it's a good job to have behind you. The zucchini and yellow squash are winding down now. Perhaps another week of picking them. The cukes are in full production. I'm not sure if it's the abundant rain we have been having all summer or the new improved variety we used this year but the tonnage is amazing. The pumpkin field looks awesome now. Now's the fun time when we can just do a field check once a week to see how it's progressing. I think tomorrow afternoon when Bug is here and after Doug gets home from work, we should take a drive to the field and check it out. I'll take a picture to post.
So for today, it's pick cucumbers, zucs and yellow squash. Bottle last year's honey, weed some of the flower beds. We have had steady rains all summer, actually more than we really need, but not to the point where crops are drowning like they are in southern Iowa. We are fortunate.
