Waiting, waiting, waiting for the phone to ring. It's 10:20 p.m. Waiting to hear from our eldest son who is at the vet with his basset hound Orson. I hope the vet can figure out what is wrong with Orson and I'm glad the trip was made tonight rather than waiting till morning. And so I shall do a little catching up on my blog. It's been over three months since I updated here. The holidays came and went. We haven't had any puppies of either breed on the place since before Thanksgiving. It sure is quiet but it's nice to have a break now and then. It's also good to have the barn stand empty for a spell to get rid of nasty germs. Next week, it will all change. Tuesday is the due date of Alice the basset hound who is definitely pregnant. Wednesday is the due date for Ada the husky IF she is pregnant. It's just so hard to tell on a husky who is wearing her winter coat if she is

pregnant or not. I certainly hope so because we have a lot of people on a waiting list. Now is the time to get ready for our tax appointment, prepare seed orders, catch up on paperwork in general. It doesn't feel like it tonight but we should start feeling like spring is on its way after we get into February. To the left is my favorite picture for the Christmas season. Bug was a shepherd in his church Christmas program. Little brother Ry is sitting on Grandpa's lap in the background. Phone just rang. The Orson report. X-rays showed an obstruction in Orson bowels. It appears Orson chewed on the carpeting, unraveling the strands, and ingesting them. He is undergoing surgery as I write. Doggone bassets will eat anything. I'm praying for you Orson.
