Today was a gorgeous spring day, finally. I just returned from a trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to visit one of my sisters. Today we attended our County Supervisors' Meeting to lobby for road improvements in our township. Then I worked on our two beehives that survived the winter. Five going into winter, two alive today and one is still doubtful. We marked off the vegetable field, moved equipment for two hives, and planted about 50 chestnuts in our woods that we had saved from last fall. If even one or two make it to maturity, it will be a success. The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. We have one litter of three basset puppies at this time. Hopefully we will be having three litters of huskies at the end of May. We haven't had any husky puppies this year yet. There is always an overabundance of projects to be done on these nice days but it's just great to be working outside.
