Happy New Year 2014

Wishing you all a Happy Healthy New Year! After the holiday festivities, I am ready to move forward and get started on the new year. It's been a very long time since I have made a post so don't even know where to start. After all the constant rains we had in the spring and early summer, we still managed to have an excellent pumpkin and squash crop. We had five litters of puppies ready to go to their new homes at the same time as we were harvesting and delivering our vegetables. It gets to be a crazy time but somehow it always works out. So now it's time for tax preparation work, seed ordering, and planning. We also have a new litter of huskies and one of bassets all warm and cozy in the barn and are expecting more later this month and on into the next couple months. Had a few setbacks at the end of November and early December. We thought we were going to have three basset litters. Frances had hers first, had difficulties, and ended with a C Section and spay. There was only one live puppy and we lost that one as well. Frances, however, recovered quickly and is now retired. We thought Chickie was pregnant but she was not. Alice came through with five beautiful puppies. We thought we were going to have two litters of huskies in the same timeframe but Susie turned out not to be pregnant. Myia did have 6 gorgeous little ones on December 20th and they are all doing well. I just finished posting pictures of them on the husky puppy page. I was going to take pictures of the basset puppies today but they had their first lesson in eating out of the dish this morning and by the time they were done, they were quite a mess. Will wait for a better day. Baby, it's COLD outside!
