Alice had her puppies right on her due date, January 29. She has 7 healthy tri-colored little bassets---6 girls and 1 boy. This is Alice's second litter. Her first litter she didn't really know what motherhood entailed so it was a tough time. This time she got with the program immediately. So all is well with her. Ada's due date was January 30 IF she was pregnant. It's difficult to tell on a husky wearing a heavy winter coat especially if she may not be carrying a large litter. So no puppies by Saturday morning, February 2, although she did seem to have a developed udder. We made the decision to find out and took her to the vet for an ultrasound. Hooray! Little hearts beating but unable to tell how many puppies were in there. Maybe it was the ride to the vet in the morning that made things happen, but by 6 p.m. Ada had two puppies....one white, one black.
And if you read about Orson in my previous post. The vet did emergency surgery on him that night and removed yarn and carpeting from his stomach. He has fully recovered now.
