Since I haven't posted anything new since May, I guess that must mean we have been busy. That was right before planting time. Since then we've planted, we've weeded, we've prayed for rain, we've seen basset puppies come and go. The chickens came and went. Now we have four litters of husky puppies arrive and the fifth is being born while we speak. And are they cute! Harvest is right around the corner and we have been blessed with a crop. No wonder I haven't had time to write. We met so many wonderful people as our litters of basset puppies found their new homes. I want to mention a comment a gentleman from Duluth made when he and his wife came to pick up their puppy. They had done a lot of research into basset puppies and Ashland Farm. He commented that one thing he wanted to see was old dogs, meaning he wanted to know what happened to our dogs -male or female, husky or basset - after their breeding years. Excellent question, Tom. The answer for us is obvious - they retire here with us. It is the duty of a responsible breeder to take care of his or her dogs their entire life. There is no other way. So when you visit us, be sure to visit our senior citizens - Beulah, Hannah, Diamond, Maggie, Passuk, and Leo.
