Summer has finally arrived. It's a beautiful sunny Sunday. I can sit out here on the porch with the windows open and catch up on my blog. Heavenly! Well, the "big" 6 acre pumpkin, squash, and fall ornamentals are all planted and coming up well. The cukes, zucchini, and yellow squash are coming up but there is not the best stand. I had to order more seeds so that we can replant in the hills that are missing plants. Those seeds should be here by tomorrow so we can finalize that planting.

Thursday Bug and I went to get the second batch of chicks. All are doing really well.

The first batch is using the automatic waterers so it's great not to have to carry water anymore. Bug loves to help take the chickens out of the boxes. He has grown up so much since last year. This will be the last week for picking asparagus. I checked my beehives yesterday and they seem to be doing fine. The one hive that for some reason was without a queen seemed to have accepted the new one i installed nicely. We had a new litter of husky puppies on Memorial Day. DeeDee had 8 puppies and she seems to be doing great. We have five basset puppies ready now. At this time, we do not anticipate any new litters of Bassets until possibly fall. The only big spring project I need to complete is cleaning up the flower beds and applying mulch. I think I will go to the greenhouse this afternoon yet for some more plants.

Special project for this week is to take Friday off to celebrate my Mom's 90th birthday. Plans are for some of my sisters and I to take her to a special lunch and do some shopping. Then in the evening we will have a small family gathering for an evening meal Small gathering in our large family could be anywhere from a 12 to 25. Then in August my sisters from a distance will be home for a family wedding so we plan on a larger party to celebrate Mom and Dad's 90th birthdays. Dad will be 90 in October. We are blessed to have both of them in such good health and still living in their own home.
