And here we are in August already. it's been a busy summer. We stay pretty close to home due to the pandemic but we aren't hermits by any means. This will be the last week of harvesting the zucchini and yellow squash for our grocery stores. The cucumbers were not very prolific this year for some reason so they gave up early. We have two litters of basset puppies on the ground now plus a new litter of huskies on Saturday. There has been an unprecedented number of calls and emails looking for puppies. My assumption is that with lots of people working from home it seems to be the perfect time to get that puppy for the family. We do what we can to accommodate people but we are just a small breeder and that's the way it will stay. We won't take advantage and raise our prices because the demand is so great. I try to be as fair as possible to everyone and take people in the order first contact was made. Our county fair was cancelled as were most but the County 4-H did a wonderful job of making it possible for the 4-H members to show off their project. Cooper who is now 13 took his chickens - pen of 3 production hens, three separate entries of exotic Golden Polish hens. The judge was excellent and spent a lot of time teaching each entrant what was good or not so good about his/her entries. Cooper received blue ribbons for all his entries and then also took part in the optional showmanship category. He was very excited to receive the Reserve Champion Junior Showmanship ribbon. I was very proud of him.
