Fae are only obtainable through breeding, adopts and events.
Fae akeli are a subspecies of the standard akeli. Due to their magic-filled environment, fae are imbued with a specific element from birth. They cannot learn any other forms of magic aside from their magic type. HOWEVER, they are masters of their craft and have access to unique traits because of this!
Fae kels are slightly smaller and rounder than standard kels. While they share many key similarities, especially as they get older, their are also some key differences!
Naming Conventions:
Fae - A single fae kel
Faes - Several fae kels
Faeling - A baby fae
Whelp - Term for baby to teen fae, basically anyone who isn't an adult
Aside from these specific terms, fae use the same terms as standards! (akeling, kel, etc)
While faelings are quite similar to standard kelings, they have a few specific traits!
Faelings start bipedal, but are completely flat-footed
Faelings have 3 mouth bumps instead of notches
Fae whiskers are chubby and butterfly-like
Faelings have antennae that sprout from their head and end in a swirl
Fae don't have eyebrows! You can add them with Eyebrow Swapper
Faelings have pure paws
The fae tail is thick and swirls, similar to a chameleon. It's always the accent colour!
Similar to all akeli, fae have a gem on their forehead! Their antennae will be the same colour as their gem!
Faelings and kelings are practically the same, though faelings tend to be a bit more clumsy than their standard cousins. It's common for faelings to trip over their feet or lose balance due to their tail.
Fae whiskers store magic, just like standard kels. However, they store only one kind of magic and much more magic. Magic-packed! Their spells can be extremely potent because of this. As babies they can sometimes have outbursts.
Since fae have a strange mouth and no eyebrows (to start), we made this guide for basic emotions! Fae antennae are very expressive and sort of replace eyebrows.
Neutral - Upright yet relaxed antennae
Sad - Antennae droop downwards
Angry - Antennae point backwards
Happy - Antennae point upward and wiggle slightly
Surprised - Antennae point straight up
Confused - One antenna tends to flop down while the other stays upright
Embarrassed - Antennae point up and outwards
Nervous - Antennae tend to point upright with one or both twitching from time to time
Tired - Antennae sag and droop, becoming slightly limp
All kels have a Magic Gem in between their eyes. This gem can be of any simple shape found below.
Note: Altering of the base shape form is allowed (i.e, stretching, squashing, rotating). Adding extra bumps is not allowed.
They can also be of any single colour except pure black or white.
NOTE: Fae antennae are the same colour as their gem!
All kelings have two baby spots! These spots are found over their nose and in the center of the tail swirl. The colour can be found at the bottom of the colour palette on the applications.
These spots do fade as they age up! One will fade out as they reach their teen stage (akelings) and the other will fade as they reach their adult stage (akelis)!
They can also have 2 secondary colours on their body! These colours can be used for simple and generic colour placements. Here is a list of all placements allowed.
Fae are unlike other kels. They cannot learn all elements of magic, they are locked into a single element at birth. That being said, they are exceptionally adept at the element they are born with! Not only does it affect what spells they can learn, but it also unlocks certain upgrades more easily.
When creating a fae from scratch, you get to choose their element! While you won't be locked out of other elemental upgrades you will need clovers for them. When fae breed, the element of the offspring will be determined by the elemental type of the parents.
While faeling apps are similar to keling apps, there are a few differences! Both of their feet must be on the ground and their arms should be outspread, not covering any colour placements. They are allowed to have a 3/4 view HOWEVER any back placements MUST be drawn in a separate view for mods to see. The application should not be shaded and should have a single colour for the lineart. Finally, there must be a front view of their gem shape alone .
Also, you must NEVER delete your application. NEVER edit the application without a mod asking for changes.
Lacey shall be our example faeling! To the left (above on mobile) is a perfectly filled out application!
They have a 3/4 view WITH a seperate view for covered coloured placements and gem! (the second view would count for akis!)
All baby spots are in place and properly coloured!
They used the proper base colour AND only 2 secondaries!
Their antennae are gem coloured and their tail is accent coloured!
Lil Lacey has a total of 6 placements, with no overlapping different colours!
1. Back (Cape)
2. Ear (Inner)
3. Ear (Tip)
4. Full Legs (Back)
5. Snout (Lower)
6. Snout (Tip)
Oh dearie, Lacey, it seems you got a bit ahead of yourself...
Silly Lacey! You're a faeling, not a standard keling! You have mouth bumps, not notches.
While cute, Lacey's pose is too dynamic and covers key placements!
Lacey, you silly kel! You used a secondary colour as your base or your base as a secondary!
On the topic of secondaries, Lacey appears to not only be using three but has overlapping placements!
Lacey Lacey, where are your baby spots? You can't use the baby spot colour as a secondary!
While standard kelings have an under tail placement, faes do not! On a similar not, their half whisker placement has an extra bit on it.
We can't see your pretty eyes, Lacey! They need to be open!
Oh Lacey, your antennae ought to be your gem colour! Your mouth shouldn't be your gem colour, it should be normal flesh colours! Plus, we don't have a separate view of your gem!
There is nothing to worry about making mistakes in the applications. Moderators will be ready to help and provide redlines! (At your request)
Last thing now, your application description!
Once you're done designing and ready to submit your keling to DeviantArt, you must put this form in the description of your new baby!
