Fire magic is one of the trickier elements to learn, namely due to the inherent danger of fire and heat. However, that doesn't mean it is difficult to learn, which contributes to its trickiness. Due to kels being warm-blooded, heat related spells are quite easy to learn. Fire is also one of the most emotionally volatile elements, meaning those who study it must take care to remain calm. Kels must ensure they stay calm and specifically avoid getting angry or frustrated while learning fire spells.
Red lumi trees may have a connection to fire magic. They thrive in hot and dry climates, even their bark is warm to the touch. It is said that being near one while studying fire spells causes hotter flames.
Learning:
Kels usually learn this spell via exercising and intense workouts. They will start with naturally increasing their body temperature to understand the feeling. They then concentrate on the feeling to replicate it via magic. This spell is tiring to learn because of all the physical workout.
Usage:
Athletic kels will use this spell to warm up faster before exercising or working out. They will also use this spell to keep warm during the cold winter months or for some sweet sweet cuddling. Akelings will often try this spell to fake a fever but tend to get caught since teachers know this trick.
Limitations:
This spell cannot be used to burn anything, as the temperature will not go that high. Kels have trouble keeping the spell up for more than an hour at first, as it will exhaust them, if not dehydrate them. Using this spell too many times over long periods can sometimes lead to fainting or heatstrokes, so be careful when using it. Drink a lot of water.
Learning:
When learning this spell, kels will be asked to use the Heat Up spell but focus its heat on their hands. The heat will be stronger since it has been focused and will be used to melt materials (like ice or wax for example).
Usage:
This spell can be used in many different ways, going from cooking to crafting. During classes, students will often be asked to customize candles or ice statues, along with melting chocolate for a tasty treat after class!
Limitations:
Beginners will have more difficulty melting hard-to-melt materials like steel, wood or stones, even not being able to melt them at all! Paper, grass and fabric will have more of a tendency to catch afire instead of melt, so be careful which material you decide to melt.
Learning:
Kels will have to put out a flame and then quickly revive it, by remembering the way the flame looked and concentrating. After enough practice, akelis will be able to create the fire without having to extinguish a past flame.
Usage:
This ability is really useful in the wilderness, being able to save lives if you get lost. Creating flames out of nowhere is also really cool, let's face it. It can be used for many activities or survival needs, such as cooking, lighting up torches or candles, making a fire for others without fire abilities.
Limitations:
Controlling a flame that has been created out of thin air is hard to keep up, missing the fuel to keep it alive. Keeping a flame alive for more than an hour is impressive, even for experienced magicians. Creating a flame far away or a massive flame is harder on the kel, often exhausting them faster. Be careful to not have anything flammable nearby.
