Lelin'Kel is the town where members will start their journey!
*Map made on Inkarnate. Temporary map but shows the overall shape of the town.
Lelin'Kel is a small town found right on the Traveller's Path. Due to the location of the town, a lot of travelling merchants or nomadic kels pass through it to buy and/or sell supplies.
The path leading north east is the Traveller's Path, same with the south west one. The south path leads to a lake.
This town is a 4 seasons town, experiencing cold winters, rainy springs, warm summers and chilly falls.
Lelin'Kel is a small-ish town where almost everyone knows each other. The townsfolk there are very open and amiable to travellers.
The town is pretty much self-sufficient towards food supply, having a good amount of hunters, fishers, farmers and ranchers. Little to no crime ever happens in this town, other than the occasional pickpocket for some change. Everyone is rather laid back and joyful.
The culture of Lelin'Kel is very simple. A kel helping their neighbour isn't such a rare sight and volunteering to help around communal spaces and building is very common. Everyone has their little role, even if it's the smallest one ever.
Due to the high traffic of travelling merchants coming through Lelin'Kel, the town has a big celebration around the end of summer, where travelling merchants from everywhere in the continent gathers to sell goods, have a drink, have talent shows and more. This celebration is the biggest one in the town and it is called the Lumifall Fest. This festival is Lelin'Kel's annual magic and trade celebration.
This town is pretty receptive to magic, especially with their biggest annual celebration being about magic. Before Margaret's arrival, it was pretty much a learning by yourself deal. Now, she offers to teach what she knows, for free, to the townsfolk as a way to give back to the community.
The most important landmark of Lelin'Kel is its Lumi Tree.
What is a Lumi Tree? It is the protector of everything that surrounds it. It has the power to repel any creature born with ill intent. It is unclear how it can do that.
The tree also bears glass-like orbs that are about the size of an apple. These orbs, called Lumi Orbs, also contain that strange power. They are used to form a barrier around the town. They need to be changed about every month, as their power will fade over time.
The tree is situated at the heart of the town, where kels like to gather around to host celebrations.
The building is separated into 7 wings, each having its own use.
Wing A - Main Entrance and drop-off area. Travellers will come by to leave their unhatched eggs or kelings here.
Wing B - Kitchen and Cafeteria area. Residents have three meals a day and will come here to eat.
Wing C - Egg Wing. This is where all the eggs are kept. This wing has multiple rooms that are kept at warmer temperatures. Each egg is secured in soft bedding to avoid them rolling off and risking cracking. The eggs that are closest to hatching are in the room closest to the entrance of the wing.
Wing D - Keling Wing. This is where all kelings have their room, where they share it with 3 roommates for a total of 4 kelings in one room.
Wing E - Akeling Wing. This is where all akelings have their room. Like in the Keling Wing, they share the room with 3 roommates for a total of 3 akelings in the same room.
Wing F - Staff Wing. This is where Emilia and her volunteers have their rooms. This also has a small first aid bay as well as a sanitary room to keep all cleaning products.
Wing G - Activity Wing. This is where toy rooms, reading rooms, art rooms, classrooms and more are!
Many travelling merchants that are not ready to have eggs will drop theirs (if they had any) at the Hatchery. There is a small fee and a form to fill out when abandoning an egg there. Some kels, not wanting to pay the fee, will drop their eggs or keling at the door and leave.
The small fee is simply to help support the hatchery, helping with food and supply bills.
The hatchery building used to be much smaller. As they got more and more eggs and kelings, new wings were added, giving the hatchery a chaotic feel and look.
The hatchery is home to most kelings and akelings of Lelin'Kel.

Aside from the hatchery, the town hall is the most important building of Lelin'Kel.
In here, you'll find the mayor's office, the sheriff's office, the post office and the odd job office.
The building itself is quite big. Along with the offices, it also has two cells in case Hopp catches any miscreants.
While most kels who work in the town hall have their own home, Maribella lives on the 2nd floor of the building, accessible only from her office. The 2nd floor consists only of her apartment, which saves her commute time.
If you wish to mail anything or get some help with law enforcement, this place is the place to go!

Right next to the town hall, you can find the library!
Lelin'Kel's library is... average. It is not absurdly large nor ridiculously small. It's just, average. It has quite a range of book themes, having most of its stock being books dropped or sold off by travellers. While most of the books arrived there randomly, a good handful were specifically ordered to finish incomplete collections.
Most of the children books and books to learn how to read are kept in the hatchery's book room. Althought the library still has some (mostly duplicates), it mostly have books targeted for teens or adults.
It has a few magic learning books. These books are expensive and rarely leave the library grounds, though you can always take notes to bring home.
It has a high diversity of themes, making it easy to learn about many things but lacks the means to go into detailed research.
The library also has an archive of monthly newsletters and papers from the capital, which is the way smaller towns keep up to date with events around the continents.

In the upper part of the town, you can find the farm! While too small to sustain the town by itself, it does help with food production. It has both crops and livestock farming, as well as a few pollenbee hives.
A farmhouse is connected to the barn. The kels living there all share it communally, having their private room and sharing everything else.

Any and all towns have a hunter guild. This is where the main source of food comes from.
Lelin'Kel's hunter's guild is fairly small. Due to the help that they get from the farm supplying more food, they do not have to constantly go out hunting.
Kels use everything from the creatures they hunt and come to the guild to process the creature. They also help to process the livestock from the farm.
The hunter's guild is mostly filled with volunteers, kels who have some free time and some energy to spend. They are also the first line of defence if a creature were to attack the town.

Even though Lelin'Kel mostly strives off of volunteer work, they do have a store for selling goods. While their main demographic is travelling merchants, they sometimes sell to the townsfolk.
They gather goods from travellers and small businesses to sell. They work hand in hand with artisans from Lelin'Kel to help sell their products in exchange for a small cut of the price.
The shop is also part of the Dewrose home, where they dedicated a large room to being the shop.

The pride and joy of Claus and Miso, Lelin'Kel is lucky enough to have a tavern. Many towns around lack the flow of travellers to afford one.
The tavern has a restaurant and a bar. Even tho it can serve adult-only beverages, the bar has some children-safe drinks. The restaurant serves a large array of food. The restaurant is also very popular for romantic evenings due to the chill atmosphere.
The tavern has a good amount of rooms to rent. While small, there are 15 rooms capable of hosting 4 kels. These lodgements are temporary and mostly sought by travellers. It isn't worth the price to sleep at the tavern long-term.

Kels are very social creatures. Similar to many cultures in our world, kels enjoy having public baths. This helps them save water consumption and allows for great bonding times.
The baths are mixed. Kels of any identity and age can take baths together. Lacking reproductive organs makes it so no one is awkward. However, there are some adult-only baths so they can relax without getting splashed in the face. There is also a bubble bath for the kids.
Cleaning and taking care of the public baths is a community effort.
There are a few changing rooms for shy kels but usually kels simply undress by the baths.
Personal or in-house baths are a thing but it is rare and mostly something nobles have.

Can't really talk about Lelin'Kel without mentioning its beautiful outskirts.
The town is surrounded by lush forests. The forest also borders really close to the town, being only a few feet away from the lumi barrier.
Close to the town is a small lake where some kels go to fish or for a swim. The walk there is a little long (about 10-15 minutes) but it is worth it. The water is nice and clear, often being warm from the sunlight.
Some kels prefer living in the outskirts, despite the dangers of not being within the barrier. However, they'll carry some lumi orbs with them to keep them safe.
The elder vudit Red the Scarred lives around Lelin'Kel, deep in the forest. She, however, doesn't bother the town often.
