Jimmies are a small reptilian creature that feeds off mainly fruits. They are extremely friendly towards akelis and make for great and fun pets. They are surprisingly intelligent, being able to recognize emotions in their owners and also learn few simple commands like "stay" and "sit".
A jimmy's tail is quite long and is slightly prehensile. It has been observed from jimmies that they will try to grab their owner's hand with their tail when they desire attention. Some jimmies prefer curling their tail while others will let it uncurl.
Their eyes and tongue are the same colour, often being either black or dark grey. They use their tongue to scent out food!
Their front limbs have two fingers adorned with very sharp claws that they use to slice open fruits and climb trees with. Their back limbs have three toes and aren't as sharp as their front legs.
In captivity, most jimmies are fine being alone with their owner, as they will consider their owner's family as their own little joy.
Jimmies have various features that can differ from one individual to the other, with some being more common than others. Let's take a look at the different traits!
There are three rarity tiers! Wildtype, Domestic and Rare!
While domestic traits aren't found in the wild, they are usually sold at the same price as wild-type jimmies, due to how common these domestic traits are!
Rare traits are domestic traits too but, due to their rarity, they are sold at a higher price!
Note: Jimmies with domestic/rare traits cannot be found in the wild!
Jimmies are mainly frugivores and will eat everything from the fruit, be it seeds, stems, leaves, peel, etc. They get all the nutrients they need that way. However, you may notice that your jimmy munches on bugs once in a while. That is often because they are lacking something in their diet or that they found the critter close to their food. Forgetful owners may also only feed the flesh of the fruit, forgetting that while they might not want to eat a banana peel, their jimmy will snack on it all day. Some jimmies will also go drink fruit juice if given the opportunity! Never keep your glass of juice out of your sight.
All jimmies have a 'flavour'. Do not worry, you will not eat the little lizard; they taste horrible and their flesh is stiff and almost unchewable. What categorizes as their flavour is their favourite fruit! Each jimmy has a favourite fruit that they will go for no matter what. This can be a very commonly found fruit, like a hueberry, or a more exotic fruit like a pitahaya. Surprisingly, jimmies also smell like their favourite fruit, making it easy to determine which fruit they like the most.
Be careful when feeding them their favourite fruits, as some jimmies can become picky eaters and some even stopped eating anything that wasn't their favourite fruit.
Jimmies are cold-blooded creatures and require heat to be active. When they get chilly, they tend to become more lethargic and will prefer sleeping than playing around with their owner. They will also like to sleep in the sun as it gives them more energy and warmth.
Jimmies also require a lot of bathing, as they tend to get all sticky after eating from the fruit juice. Nobody likes a sticky lizard that will collect dust from running around.
Being an arborial species, jimmies will love to climb around and just... throw themselves down to glide around. Keeping their environment safe is a must to avoid injuries or worse. They will also require mental stimulation to avoid undesired situations, such as a jimmy stuck between two bookshelves.
The jimmy reproduction cycle is still a mystery to most kels. Only the most experienced breeder have managed to crack the code and will keep the secret to themselves to have a monopoly on jimmies. A jammy will need special conditions in order to produce eggs.
In the wild, jammies will lay around 3-6 small, light blue/purple speckled eggs. Some kels have found jimmy nests in trees, perfectly camouflaged with moss and leaves.
Once the eggs hatch, the jumbles will remain hidden for the first two weeks of their life, as they will finish absorbing their egg yolks. They will start eating fruits at around one-month-old.
