How to grow up?
You're looking to grow up your kel? Well this is the guide just for you!
Here are a few rules that apply to all types of growing up!
1. Your kel must have 5 different deviations of them in the current age they are. Applications do not count!
2. Your kel must be of the minimum age required for the right growing up.
3. You cannot skip a stage (baby straight to adult), even if they are past the minimum adult grow up age.
4. You cannot add upgrades on growing up approvals. Do it before or after.
5. Do not depict accessories/clothes on aging applications.
6. You must use the right template.
7. Do not edit the approvals unless asked by a moderator.
7. When filling out your template, both reiterations of the character must face the same way and be posed in a way that doesn't hide markings (think boring, just standing there poses).
8. You cannot change the gem shape or colours/placements of your kel during the growing up approvals.
You can find the templates here, along with examples of filled out templates (click to access the sta.sh):
Looking to grow up your baby? Well, it will be really easy to do!
A quick reminder, you do not need to grab all the baby upgrades you want before growing up your kel! Teens can still access baby upgrades!
In order to grow up into an akeling, your keling must be at least 1 month old.
How do we calculate that month? Well, if your keling is born on May 9th, they will need to wait until June 9th!
However, before growing up, you have a choice to do! This choice is really important but, it can be changed later using a future upgrade.
You will have to pick between two stances! Your kel can keep going on all four and become a quadrupedal akeling OR, they can go on their back feet and become a bipedal akeling.
Trouble deciding which stance? Here are some characteristics from both stances.
Quadrupeds are often training, sparring or strength-focused. Maybe they are interested in wearing armour? Or smithing? Handling large animals? Things that are heavily physical are the go-to for quads! Or, maybe you just feel more comfortable drawing quadrupedal characters!
Bipeds are very agile and nimble. They can also wear intricate clothing, as puffy or flowy garments can get in the way of quads. They also have an easier time doing art-related jobs with their nimble hands. Or, maybe you just feel more comfortable drawing bipedal characters!
There is one thing that applies to both quadruped and biped stances! Remember the two keling baby spots? Well, they fade with age! Akelings, or teens, only have one baby spot left and it's you who decides which one gets to disappear.
Now, let's have a look at our quadruped stance!
While they stay similarly shaped to baby kelings, they do get a few anatomical changes!
1 - Their legs become longer, giving them almost an awkward height.
2 - Their shoulders get wider as they are bulking out. They have smaller hindquarters.
3 - Their front legs are stronger than their back legs. They start developing more upper body strength!
4 - Their tail gets slightly longer but stays relatively short to their body.
5 - They generally have larger front paws than the hind ones but this is optional!
That's pretty much it for the quadruped stance!
Bipedal teens have quite the anatomy change!
1 - They are now digitigrade bipedals! This means that they stand on their toes (not full foot)
2 - They have thin and slim arms, as smaller shoulders.
3 - They have stronger hind legs. This gives them a great balance. This gives them high lower body strength.
4 - Their tail is slightly longer but stays relatively short compared to their body.
5 - They generally have bigger feet than hands but this is optional!
Now that you have picked which stance you want, you can start filling your form!
Here's a few things to keep in mind when filling them:
1. Use the right form (we have a quad and a biped version, as well as the adult growing up in the sta.sh).
2. Only one of the baby spots fades away!
3. Both drawings have to face the same way! Makes it easy to check the placements.
4. Both drawings have to be boring poses of fullbodies.
5. You cannot apply upgrades during the growing-up approval!
Here are examples of good and badly filled templates!
In the description of your application, you need to fill in this form!
ID:
Name:
Birthdate: Write out the date AND link to keling approval
Base Gem Shape:
Stance:
Upgrades: <Link to upgrade applications>
Link to 5 deviations: <link1> <link2> ...
Once you have filled your application, you can then upload it to DeviantArt! Then, you can head on discord and fill the form found in #teen-approval channel.
Once you have submitted your approval there, a moderator will get to it as fast as possible. They will create a thread, letting you know if anything needs to be changed, added or if it has been declined for one reason or another.
Once your kel's teen growing up approval has been accepted, they are now officially an akeling!
Once your kel has joined the teenage club, you might be wondering what comes next.
Other than growing them up again into an adult, there are new things your kel unlocked!
