Elba Sup&Hike Week
10-17 May 2024: a week around Elba Island for stand-up-paddlers and hikers

223 sq km, 150 km coastline, 1000 m max peak, 1h30 by ship from the continent
Elba is one of the most beautiful and famous islands in the Mediterranean Sea, rich in history and nature, with a variety of coastline, beaches and cliffs; with hundreds of km of dirt roads for hiking and mtb, mountain paths up to 1000 meters above sea level; for its history, the ancient mines, the fortifications, the exile of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1814.
The Elba Sup&Hike Week is designed for daily sup tours along selected stretches of coast and for daily hiking tours on selected mountain paths.

Participation requirements for stand up paddling tours:
Good health
Be comfortable swimming in deep water (even if with PFD)
Be comfortable stand up paddling or knee paddling up to sea state 2 on the Douglas scale (waves up to 0.50 m)
Be comfortable stand up paddling or knee paddling up to wind force 3 on the Beaufort scale (wind speed up to 10 kn)
Be confortable paddling up to 10 km per day and up to 4 hours per day
All necessary equipment (board, paddle, leash, pfd) and ability for paddling
Participation requirements for hiking tours:
Good health
be comfortable hiking 300m of uphill elevation per hour, maximum 600m of uphill elevation per day (and corresponding height difference downhill)
Be confortable hiking up to 4 hours per day
All necessary equipment (hiking boots, backpack, raincoat) and ability for hiking
Extra - Available rentals:
Inflatable boards (10'6", 12'6", 14')
Paddles, PFDs, leashes, drybags
Basecamp:
Large outdoor and indoor common areas, community kitchen, dormitories, garden and trees, parking
Lodging:
In the Basecamp: mixed or separated dormitories with external bathrooms and toilets (hostel style)
Meals:
In the Basecamp: common meals prepared by a cook
Breakfast time: 6h-8h
Packed Lunch
Dinner time: 18h - 20h
Upon request: a $$ non-tourist typical restaurant/pizzeria at 10 min walk from the Basecamp. Other $ and $$ restaurants on the beach at 20 min walk
NB: In most restaurants, vegetarian and gluten-free meals are possible
Excursions:
Every day a sup and/or a hike tour
Extras:
Some extra courses or activities are proposed: survival (half day), freediving (half day), muscle awakening (early morning), anti-fatigue gymnastics (late afternoon)
Costs:
Estimated expense: 150 euro/day for:
full board in Basecamp: lodging, breakfast, packed lunch, dinner
rental of board (10’6”, 12’6”, 14’) + paddle (carbon) + leash + pfd
rental of van for common excursions
Supermarket:
At 30 min walk from the basecamp
Beaches:
Closest beaches are at 15 to 30 min walk from the basecamp
How to get to the island:
The best way to get to Elba is by ferry from Piombino which can be reached by train.
There is also (but for how long?) an airport on the island, with flights from Pisa, Florence, Milan.

9h - 15h: Arrival of guests
16h - 18h: Guided tour of Basecamp and local village (for provisions)
19h - 21h: Welcome dinner
Saturday 11 May - Thursday 16 May
6h - 8h: Breakfast
9h - 15h: Excursion
18h - 2oh: Dinner
Friday 17 May
7h - 9h: Breakfast
9h - 11h: Tidying the Basecamp
11h - 13h: Departure of guests
