AHS Acute Care Facilities - Mask Required in All Patient Care Areas (not KEC… yet!)

Message from Alberta Health Services:

Effective October 16th, 2023, anyone who works in an Alberta Health Services acute care facility—including staff, physicians, students, and residents— is required to wear a mask in patient care areas to limit the transmission of respiratory viruses. These areas include elevators/staircases/hallways, common areas, gift shops, and cafeterias where patient contact could occur in acute care facilities and continuing care sites that are co-located within those sites identified below:

Wearing a mask is optional where there is no contact with patients, such as classrooms, staff break rooms and meeting rooms, though those who want to wear a mask in these areas can continue to do so. Room bookings will not be impacted at this time. *All other buildings on campus, including KEC, are not yet affected by a continuous masking mandate.

As always, please stay home when ill and continue to practice proper hand hygiene to keep patients, families and each other safe and healthy. For more information please refer to AHS’ Masking FAQ.

Sincerely,
