For my Found poem, I didn't have any newspaper or a lot of books I could write over, so I went into my old bookcase and got out an old copy of The Magic Treehouse and started to look for words that really stuck out to me. Then, I used a sharpie to outline the words I wanted, which were ironically, "children are heroes". Then After choosing that poem out of the other five we made, I thought about how I should approach that poem. I decided to take it literally and printed out pictures of some of the most notable children in the world (with help from a few websites). The children were heroes, and that was the meaning of my straight forward poem. Then I transferred the collage onto my phone because I felt I was missing something, and overlayed a cityscape and a mountain, adding a little dimension meaning.

I used color and shapes to show the children and I used balance and unity by including the mountains and cityscape.

The idea of this piece is to express the poem and illustrating its meaning with pictures. The story is that all the children in the piece did something special and this relates to my (and everyone's) lives because the children have made it a better place. Without them, computers, braille, education would not be the same as it is today. I'm proudest the overlay, I think I did a pretty good job making them look ok. I struggled with finding heroes that were children off the top of my head, so eventually, I just looked some up.
