"Montana Dino"
8x12
For my WhatchamaDRAWit drawing, I chose a purple gel pen. I used a pencil for sketching and outlining so it could be erased easily. I chose the pen l to clean up the lines and erased most of the sketch to purify them. I experimented by using the prompt I was given, a pig body with a dinosaur head with ice cream cone legs. the creature is definitely not my style, but I kind of liked the background I gave it. My project evolved from a light sketch to defined lines.
I used lines to emphasize the shape of the creature, and I used them to show where there was depth, or in darker places. I used texture by including all the motion in the river, and the ice cream cone legs. I created unity by adding the mountains.
The idea of this piece is a pig body with a dinosaur head with ice cream cone legs that is roaming the plains of Africa mixed with Montana. It doesn't really have a story because it was a very specific assignment. I guess you could say that it is related to my life because I absolutely love Montana. I'm proudest of drawing my trees; I think I did a pretty good job making them look realistic and proportional. I struggled with making the creature match the style of the drawing, but it was the assignment so I couldn't do much about it.
