For my Circle Design, I chose to pen and paper for my materials. I used a pencil for sketching and outlining so it could be erased easily. I chose colored and black pens to clean up the lines and erased most of the sketches to purify them. This time, instead of making entirely our own drawing, we used a 3x5 array of circles and let our imagination take us somewhere with it. I experimented by trying to find inspiration in my everyday life to draw, and I did just that. My project evolved from a light sketch to defined and colorful lines.
I used space, patterns, and lines by including the designs on the outside of the circles. I created color and value by adding color within the circles.
The idea of this piece is to incorporate your own twist into an array of 5x3 circles. The colorful designs were inspired by structures of molecules in my biology class, but it doesn't have much of a story because it was a fairly specific assignment. I'm proudest of drawing the black and white designs, I think they did a pretty good job making the whole piece look more interesting. I struggled with coming up with inspiration; perfect circles aren't exactly stimulating and have creativity flowing out of them, but I focused on it and figured it out.
