Coil Technique

For my Coil pot, I chose white clay. I used the wooden knife to smooth out the coils and sometimes used the needle tool and water to attach the coils if I felt was necisary. I used SM-27 teal for my glaze. This time, instead of making a pinch pot from a ball of clay we started from a long coil of clay and built it up. I experimented using the coil technique, which was much different than slab or pinch techniques.

I used lines in the design on the sides, as well as a pattern.

The idea of this piece is a coil pot, It doesn't really have a story because it was a very specific assignment. I'm proudest of the little designs on the sides, I think they are a very cute touch. I also like the color and the simplistic look I chose. I struggled with making the sides look smooth and straight although, but I focused on it and figured it out.
