Photoshop Portrait

"Masked eyes"

For my photoshop portrait, I used—If you couldn't tell— photoshop. I experimented a ton with this new application, using the different layers and figuring out what tools to use. For the most part, I used the color selector, brush tool, and symmetry. My project evolved from a photo of me to a drawing of me.

I used value to emphasize the shape of the face and show shadow and highlights. I used lines and balance by including the patterned border surrounding my face.

The idea of this piece is a photoshop drawing of a part of your face, It doesn't really have a story because it was a very specific assignment. I guess you could say that it is related to my life because it is my face in the drawing. I'm proudest of drawing my face shadows, I think I did a pretty good job making them look realistic and proportional. I struggled with the colors of my face. The color dropper kept giving me really dark hues because my face was hidden by my hair from the light, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Overall, I LOVED using photoshop. It was my first time using it so the portrait is not my best work, but it was tons of fun to create.
