In this class, I learned so much. I explored my political beliefs and how to portray them, experimented with photoshop and oil paint. I tried many new things, like embroidery, logo making, scientific painting, photoshop, and oil paint. I think I was most successful with the oil paint and photoshop. I liked photoshop because I could show the meaning behind my art cleanly and simply as opposed to pencil or paint being a little messier. I also like that I had the control to undo and change things at the click of a button. I used oil paint for the first time in my sustained investigation. I liked it a lot more than what paints I had previously used, I was very successful with using it. I am so happy with how my paintings came out when using it. I will definitely continue to use both photoshop and oil in the future.
I struggled with a multitude of things. I used embroidery for my circle design, and it was not very successful. I didn't have the color embroidery floss I needed, and the due date was too close to go with my parents to get materials. The other thing that I was unsuccessful with in all of my projects was the timing. I liked that we did a lot of projects, but at the same time, it was super overwhelming. It was hard for me to get inspired, gather materials (again), and creating my art in the short period of time we were given. And of course, this year was particularly hard with less studio time due to covid.
My goals moving forward are to finish 3D design and next year take an advanced class. I really like the idea of working on your own project and getting the freedom to choose. I will try to enter the scholastics competition because I forgot to this year. I will definitely use what I have learned in whatever class I end up taking next year/semester. I really enjoyed 2D art.
