New Features in Zoom (Spring 2024)
In late fall 2023, Zoom introduced Zoom AI Companion, which allows users to add additional information beyond the meeting recording.
Shared by the host, viewers can quickly catch up on missed meetings by watching highlights, smart chapters, and reviewing summaries and next steps in the recordings.
After the meeting, hosts can access an automated summary to share with attendees and participants unable to attend.
Please note:
Content creators should review AI-generated content before sharing information with viewers, as AI can produce unintended errors or inaccuracies in speech, titles and content.
Recording Summary
To generate recording highlights, smart chapters, and next steps, you must have a cloud recording and audio transcript processed and available to view. You will receive email notification when the recording and transcript are available for review. Recording highlights, smart chapters, and next steps can be edited by the owner of the cloud recording (the host) or any user with permission to manage cloud recordings.
Highlights
When Highlights automatically show the important parts of a cloud recorded meeting, allowing you to quickly navigate to critical information. Zoom AI highlights the most important parts of a meeting, and hosts can adjust or edit the highlights. Highlights are linked to the text in the audio transcript and can be removed in the highlights section below the video portion or at the audio transcript level.

Next Steps
Meeting hosts can also include a list of next steps for participants. The AI Companion will insert a generic summary of what is indicated as next steps post meeting, if provided. Hosts can edit this summary to provide specific tasks or courses of action. Please note there is no text editor in this interface, so formatting text is not available. Host will need to manually number content if the sequence is necessary.
Notes (Non-AI)
With Zoom Notes, users can create note documents while in a meeting, allowing them to track meeting minutes, important items, tasks for after the meeting, and more. Notes can be shared with participants during the meeting and as post meeting follow-up.
Visit the Zoom website to review Using Zoom Notes in a meeting written instructions or watch this short format starter video, Introducing Zoom Notes. If you would like to “play with” the tool in the Zoom software, here are quick instructions for creating a new note.
