Ashley Pease, faculty in Social and Behavioral Sciences, shares her unique approach to engaging students through Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Ashley applies Bloom’s taxonomy and adaptive release in Blackboard to guide students through an individualized learning experience. In this session we will present UDL best practices and Ashley’s step by step process to her course design.  

Thinking outside the test: using test and survey tools differently

Did they read the syllabus? How knowledgeable about them with current events? How do the readings impact them? How “tech savvy” are they? Surveys are often seen as methods of evaluation and feedback, which they are, but you can use this technology to generate information to help you understand, teach and prepare your students better. Through the use of tests and surveys, Kyle Kraus, Instructional Designer, creates syllabus and content surveys, creates learning activities, surveys students skill sets, and incorporates their feedback into lessons and weekly planning. In this presentation, she’ll show examples of activities she uses and tools she uses.
