Pedagogical Principles, Theory & Practice

Principles, Theories & Practice Primer

A common statement of first time faculty is the lack of teaching principles and practices to prepare them to teach college-level courses. For non-teaching and technical practitioners, formal training on how to instruct or teach is even less common. However, in both situations, your own educational experience often shapes what you want to see in a classroom. Faculty pick up the principles along the way, even if they don’t learn the specific theoretical concepts.  For this topic, we will explore some basic theories, principles and models to use in your course design and teaching. Our goal is to expose faculty to methodologies that ultimately help shape their practice.

Faculty can review the content, respond to prompts, ask questions, and participate in activities presented in the video. Responses will be sent to the Center for Online & Digital Learning (CODL) and the faculty member themselves.
