Workshop on Malayalam Computing 2015

Under the auspices of ViCA (Vidya Computer Applications Association), the Department organised a half-day workshop on Malayalam Computing on 09 October 2015 AN. The Workshop was held in the Computer Lab of the department. The programme was also structured as a Faculty Development Programme. All students of S4 MCA class and all the faculty members of the Department of Computer Applications participated in the Workshop. The programme began with a replay of a recorded recitation of Daivadasakam and a formal welcome speech by Ms Siji K B, Assistant Professor in the Department. Dr V N Krishnachandran, Head of Department of Computer Applications, was the resource person for the Workshop.

During the first half of the Workshop, the participants were trained to install the Varamozhi package and to use the Keyman software for inputting Malayalam script in documents. The method used was a popular phonetic transliteration scheme for Malayalam in the Roman script known as the Mozhi transliteration scheme. In the second half, the participants were trained to include Malayalam script as content in gmail messages. All the participants joyously participated in the workshop, and each one of them sent a gmail to the resource person containing a sketch written in Malayalm about his/her best friend.

ആദ്യമായ് പീജീ പഠീക്കുവാൻ വന്ന എനിക്കു കൂട്ടുകൂടുവാൻ ഒരാൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുനില്ല.ഒരു നല്ല കൂട്ടുക്കാരനു വേണ്ടീ കാത്തിരുനു.മഴ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്ന വേഴാബൽ പോലെ ....,കുറച്ചുനാളുകൾകഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ എനിക്കും കിട്ടി എന്റെ ജീവിതത്തീലെ ദു:ഖവും,സന്തോഷവും പങ്കുവെക്കൻ ഒരു നല്ല കൂട്ടുക്കാരൻ.കുട്ടികളുടെ ഇടയിലേക്കു ഒരു ഗുണ്ടയുടെ മുഖം ഉള്ള എന്റെ സ്വന്തം കൃഷ്ണപ്രസാദ്.

ബഹുമാനപെട്ട സർ;

എനിക്ക് ഏറ്റവൂം പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട സുഹ്ര്ത്ത് അരുണിനെ കുറിച്ചാണു ഞാൻ ഇവിടെ വിവരിക്കുന്നത്. വളരെ അധികം രസികനും അതിലുപരി സൌമ്യനുമാണു.മറ്റു വിദ്യാർഥികളിലൊന്നും കണ്ടുവരാത്ത ഒരു പ്രക്ര്തിയാണു അവനിൽ ഉള്ളതു.അവന്റെ ജീവിതത്തിലെ ഏതൊരു നിമിഷവും വളരെ മനൊഹരവും തമാശയാക്കി തീർക്കുവാനുള്ള കാഴ്ച്ച്പ്പാടിനെ ഞങൾ അവേഷപൂർവം നേക്കികാണാരറുണ്ട്.വളരെ വിനയതോടെ ഉള്ള അവന്റെ പെരുമാറ്റം എതൊരു വ്യക്തിക്കും ഇഷ്റ്ടപ്പെടാവുന്നതാണു.വീട്ടിൽ പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് പണികളൊന്നും ഇല്ലാത്തത്കൊണ്ട് എല്ലാ സമയതും കൂട്ടുകാരെവിനൊദ യാത്ര കൊണ്ടുപോകലാണു അവന്റെ വലിയ ജോലി.പഠന കാര്യത്തിൽ മറ്റു കൂട്ടുകാരെ പോലെ കള്ളം പറയാറില്ല. ആത്മാർതഥ എന്നുള്ളതു അവനിലെ മറ്റൊരു നന്മയാണു.ഞങളുടെഅടുത്ത പദ്ദതി കൊച്ചിയിൽ പോയി കേരളബ്ലാസ്റ്റേസിന്റെ കളി കാണലാണു. ആ പരിപാടിയുടെയും അശാൻ അവൻ തന്നെ ആണു.എതൊരു വ്യക്തിയെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള അവന്റെ രസകരമായഅനുകരണം അവനെ മറ്റുള്ളവരിൽ നിന്നും വെറിടു നിർത്തുന്ന ഒന്നാണു.ഇത് ഇവിടെ അവസാനിക്കുനില്ലാ.......
