PTA Meeting of MCA (2009 admissions) on 05 August 2011
A meeting of the parents and teachers of the students of S4 MCA (2009 admissions) class was held in the after-noon of 05 August 2011.
Printed invitations had been served on all parents. In addition, the Group Tutors had individually contacted all parents over phone and invited them to the Meeting.
Before the formal meeting which began at 03.00 pm in the Seminar Hall of the Department, parents met the teachers in the Faculty Room of the Department. This informal session began at around 1.30 pm. The parents were appraised about the progress of the students in studies and also shared their perceptions about the personality development of the students.
The formal meeting began with a welcome speech by the Head of Department. In his welcoming words, the Head of Department stressed the necessity of parents attending such meetings and of frequent interactions with teachers. He exhorted the parents to create an ambiance in the home whereby the students could be motivated to aspire for higher goals of achievements in life, especially career-wise. This may stimulate the students to give more seriousness to preparations for facing placement-related activities. Group tutors of the class and other faculty members also spoke.
Parents also actively participated in the discussions. Several concrete suggestions for further improvement of the academic and students' discipline related activities have been put forth by parents.
Parents of 20 students attended the proceedings. A few parents had already met the teachers on days prior to the day of the Meeting. Parents of all remaining students have promised to meet the teachers very shortly.
