1850- Baker Family Cemetery

Location: 6770 Thomas Weaver Road, north of Halls Crossroads and a bit west of Maynardville Highway (33).

The website FindAGrave.com has a page for the Baker Family Cemetery. It lists 62 interments, with two of them dating back to 1850: one for Solomon David Baker, born May 7, 1847 and died August 2, 1850; and one for James Washington Baker, born February 13, 1849 and September 5, 1850. They were brothers, sons of Anderson Armstrong Baker (1813-1891). According to the FindAGrave.com page, the person with the earliest birth date in the cemetery is Christopher Columbus Baker, born March 10, 1769 and died December 9, 1853. He was the father of Anderson Armstrong Baker.

The FindAGrave.com page also says that the old logs from the home of Christopher Columbus Baker and his wife, Rebecca Bolton Baker, are still visible in a remodeled house across the street from the cemetery. It doesn't specify whether the house is the original one, only remodeled, or if the logs were taken from the old house and used on a newer house. See a picture of the house here.

I haven't had the opportunity to go out and photograph this cemetery yet. In the meantime, here is a screen shot that I saved from Google Maps. It looks like you can just barely see the top of one of the grave markers at the top of the hill.
