1822- White, or White-Baker, Cemetery

Location: 2810 Hackman Street, Knoxville

This small cemetery apparently has several names. The website FindAGrave.com has a page for this cemetery, and on there, it's called White Cemetery, White-Baker Cemetery, and Baker Cemetery II. The Knox County GIS website, on its map, calls it the James Cemetery and the White-Baker Cemetery.

The FindAGrave.com page lists 9 interments. The oldest two are for Moses White, born September 30, 1816 and died April 7, 1822, and for Catherine A. White, born July 31, 1821 and died June 11, 1822. The earliest birth date listed is for another Moses White, who was born on April 22, 1775 in Virginia and died on May 30, 1830 in Knoxville, TN. His father was James White, who founded the City of Knoxville.

I haven't had the opportunity to go out and photograph this cemetery yet. In the meantime, here is a screen shot that I saved from Google Maps. It's not the greatest picture, but the cemetery is off the road a bit, behind a couple of houses.
