1848- Knollwood

Knollwood was built in 1848.

Location: 1006 Major Reynolds Place (on top of Bearden Hill, on Kingston Pike), Knoxville

From the website of the Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission:

"Knollwood was completed in 1851 as a home for Major Robert Reynolds, with construction supervised by his sister, Rebecca, while he was serving in the Mexican War. It was used as Confederate headquarters by General Longstreet . The house was built in the Federal style and modified with Neoclassical details in the 1880s."

According to the sign in front of the house, it was built in 1848. I assume that it was begun in 1848 and completed in 1851, as the Knox County MPC website states.
